Him and my dil are starting it so🤞Jeff tbh I've been thinking about it for ages and Monday I got the shove I needed so resigned and fin Thursday mate

Finished up driving the truck tonight ,taking some time out as I've had enough early starts and all they so I've resigned
sitting tonight with a large GIN😀👍
I finished at 58, young maybe, lucky maybe, but after 20 years of iffy health and an ever deminishing job I got out, it was a Thursday. I woke on the Monday and thought, "I should have gone earlier"! The pension is poor but would I go back? No way! I've learnt to live on what I get and if I drop dead tomorrow it's 4 years I would have never had. Enjoy what's left, good luck.

Great news Gordon.
You won't regret it.
The good thing about choosing doing at the moment, the majority of the country are already leading the retired life.😉
That Hymer will be getting a lot of tlc.
👍

Just seen this Gordon. You'll never regret the decision I'm sure.

All the best from Roseann and I.

Cheers

A really good friend of mine told me he was going to retire early.

I was confused, because he was bright, well respected, and had everything going for him. So I sat down with him and asked why.

He simply said that his family didn't make old bones, and wanted to enjoy as many years as possible in his remote Scottish home with his wife. So he retired.

Two years ago, he passed away....early.... just as he anticipated. I chat to his wife once a week to see how she is, and will continue until I fall of my perch.

The point is, to remind each and every one of us to grab our opportunities whilst we have them, as did my friend.

Congratulations on choice in life. I hope you enjoy a long, healthy and happy retirement, Mr Laird.

Well done there's more to life than knocking your pan in and getting nowhere now when lockdown as over go and enjoy your motorhome with Fiona when she's got time off you now can choose when you want to work or go an holiday

Working less is a really good option if it can be achieved, and managed financially. Get to the stage where you don't have time ( or inclination ) for work...then retire!:)
