Just received this letter from chief exec

It’s amazing how LGV drivers have gone from the biggest, whatever’s on the road, to , please, please, pretty please, come back to work, so I can do all the things I’ve been able to do .
Then I can get back to abusing you again. Bloody lorry drivers, taking up all the road. Blah! Blah!
This reminds me of a post I made years ago. About what roads were built for. What goes around, comes around.

It hasn’t helped the fact that they stopped c1 on licenses in 97, as a lot of firms had 7.5 ton trucks about that anyone could drive which then for many would lead to a natural progression up to bigger trucks.
You hardly see any 7.5 trucks on the roads now as the people having to do the test just go straight to class 2
Hence the reason there are very few young people driving hgv
Instead people are just overloading 3.5 ton vans and pickups.
They have just changed the law on towing, now they need to put c1 back onto everyone’s licenses

I had my HGV revoked by the dvla ten yrs ago on a technicality, can't wait to get home & see if they've sent me a letter....

My word how times change, since the 1960s and before wagon drivers have always been treated as s--t on the pavement, now that we have a major problem it's all hail the wagon driver, we'll I have good suggestion, get all them crappie MPs behind the wheel for a compulsory 6 months and then and only then maybe the standard's might improve.
Thirsk and Leeming Bar have banned waggons overnighting on the trading trading estates but at the present time there is no talk of building any parking area's or facilities for them. 😡😡

A hero in his (very early) lunch time.🤔

Ah! The British Bulldog to the rescue again.

Why? They’ve never had any proper drivers before, why now?
Why do you need to wear a tie, to drive a truck ffs?
Spoke to a ex workmate yesterday. Morrison’s delivery’s are taken care of by Stobarts. This would explain the empty shelves.
A typical days work instead of dedicated Morrison’s delivery’s, would now read something like, delivery to store, go to Tesco RDC, deliver that, collection for an Stobart customer , deliver that. Oh! Run out of time. Making you late for your next job. Disciplined for not completing your duties. He added that over 30% of the British workforce have left since the Stobart takeover.
Still after next week, Morrison’s will no longer exist. Look out f a company called CD&R

Most of the old Transport Cafes have closed down now. That was where you found out about upcoming jobs and what rate was being paid. The best rates had the most applicants. But if you could get someone to put a word in for you, it was worth the cuppa you had to buy them!
