We sort of used it - it seemed fine.
What actually happened was that we were in Spain for Christmas and New Year a few years ago. Between the two, we were moving from one campsite to another. We stopped at the supermarket on our way out of the town where we had spent Christmas, but when we left, the van wouldn’t go above 20mph. We were supposed to be travelling a couple of hours south on the motorway, no way could we continue, so we limped back to the site we had just left and fortunately they were able to book us back in. We phoned the Nationwide and they arranged for a mechanic - however he wasn’t going to be able to come out for about 5 days, because of it being Christmas, a weekend, and New Year. That was what we expected anyway, so no criticism of the service.
However, the next morning, husband pointed at a little button on the dash. “What’s this one for?” he asked. I explained it was “a bit like the cruise control only instead of maintaining your speed, it sets it at a certain speed and doesn’t let you go any faster …. YOU HAVEN’T TOUCHED IT HAVE YOU !!!!!”
So, he managed to ‘fix’ the problem and we cancelled the mechanic. But I’m sure he would have been very good if he had been needed
