Hi all,
Although Janet and I are not sporty😉
I do like watching the Winter Olympics ,
We are just returning from a trip into the dolomites to check out the area for visiting the Olympics ,
We have Italian friends who just laughed at us wishing to go ,
Their arguments were ;
The infrastructure hasn’t been started yet , the roads and trains were supposed to be upgraded around the area .
The bobsleigh luge track is still in major disrepair with tree roots growing out of it from when it was last used for a world championships in 2008. Only just over three years until it all needs to be ready.
With it being so close distance wise I am prepared to pay the extortionate rates for campsites and tickets just for a once in a lifetime event ,
And obviously the van will need to be fully winterised , and thermal underwear will be issued to all occupants .
Has anybody been to a Winter Olympics before ?
Is there extra campsites, motorhome parking areas set up for the influx of tourists ?
I have spent quite a few hours already looking for information on the Olympic Games website and also the cortina area ski information the only thing I can find are a few maps that tell me where the ski runs and biathlon will be,
Here’s a few pics just to tickle your fancy if you want to make a trip of it.

The Dolomites are smashing. As a young adult I ski-ied there a few times.
The coaches and ski shuttles all run so provided you have suitable tyres or chains etc you should be fine.
Not sure about camping as I suggest ehu and running water are required.
Somebody will have done it.
Keep looking !
Presumably camp up and get local transport as needed.
Save gas by turning the freezer off !!!!

I would say it would be a great trip, but for the time of yeat I'd think that absolutely need to use a campsite with EHU and facilities to make the stay enjoyable rather than endurable.

I can't afford Cortina, which is a shame, because the Dolomites would have been a triumph, so perhaps I'll try Lancashire, a British Leyland holiday ... :)

Anybody seen my coat? It's the anorak with fur trim and the hood to catch the dandruff ...

I think you are dancing around the question, like a man in an Allegro

The Bionic Man? Steve Austin, except that Longbridge obviously didn't have the technology to rebuild him ... Less 6 million dollars, more 545 quid
