Help, just got Chrome book

I seem to be having a problem installing from the app store, just a couple of games I like.

Is there a special way to do it?

I had a charger with a red led which was like a WW2 searchlight so I used a black permanent marker to coat the lens and that has worked a treat...
K ;)

It seems it is too old to download apps from Google Play so as it has 30 day free returns I just sent it back for a refund, I'm on the look out for one with 8gb ram and a SSD drive that one had a MMC needs to be a 15.6 screen though, I had a look at a 14 and it's way too small.

Try laptops direct.
They do refurbished (good) laptops as well as new
As you post SSD and 8Gb ram.

Chrome. save you any trouble just hand over all your bank details emails and I will look after it for you, you could have bought a laptop with mint installed using firefox or duckduckgo, safe and secure, no apts which are full of snooping spyware, just had my second mobile hacked, now going for a linux based phone with either pure android sailfish or other opperating system installed.pine ph a.pngpine ph b.pngpine ph c.pngpine ph z.png

Well I don't want to point out the obvious but all this pravacy crap they keep spouting could all be ballcocks too.

Ok, new Chromebook just arrived, much more better, keys are softer on me paws, it has a numeric keyboard so the keys are all the same layout as my laptop it also has a Micro SD card slot and a HDMI socket so a much better machine so far.

But I'm still stuck trying to install apps from the playstore, it's not really a game changer but I'd like to have some simple card games, Sudoku and chess for those idle moments.

Ah, it's has installed a game I was expecting to see chromebook in the list of devices but it was only showing my phone and laptop, but I just rand and they said to look at the icon bottom left and there it was.

Right, next question, I have the familiar Chrome browser screen but the bookmarks bar text and tabs are mega small, is there a way to enlarge it, I can do the window text but that leave the bar as is.

See picture below, see that the actual forum page is not full width, how do I make it so?

Finally for now at least is there a way to have my app etc on a grid patter on the desktop screen as per Win 10?

I've got the forum to go almost full width of the screen now, and the bookmark bar is as it is on my laptop, it seems you can't have a desktop like Windows, it's all on a shelf bottom left.

I also have an illuminated keyboard, and the Chromebook responds really well, RAM is still only 4gb 8gb cost the earth and apparently it's not up-gradable on this, but the 128GB SSD seems fast enough so I think this will be a keeper.

The battery remaining seems a bit odd, it started out of the box as 5:40 it now says 7:21 left but I haven't charged it, this too has USB so the charger I bought will be used on this.

First thing is to change the browser to firefox or duckduckgo, then get thunderbird for to bring your emails through, being more secure and privicy badger and add blocker.

No the first thing is to ignore any feelings of paranoia Trev ;) ;)

Why would I buy a Chromebook then ignore the Chrome bit, it is senseless and pointless to my mind.

Something I noticed on the one I sent back and happened last night again on the new one that the bookmark bar went into all I can think of is dark mode like my phone does if on sat nav, but I hate it but cannot find how to lock it in to day mode.

Any ideas?

This is what it looks like 1666854699681.jpeg

But I prefer it to be like this

I went ot the Acer website and downloaded the manual but it mentiones nothing. this one also appears to no have a caps lock, in it's place is a launcher button, handy but I can do it elsewhere.

I just opened it again and it seem it does have a day and night mode, but HOW do I turn it off? I've looked through every setting and the nearest I found was inversion but I didn't change any settings.

Does THIS explain perhaps.
I've just been into that from the same Google suggestion, this is how it was set.

I changed it to warmer but that just made it a bit orange so gone back to cooler
