Help, just got Chrome book

If you want to disable dark mode on your Chromebook altogether, this is what you need to do:
  1. Open Google Chrome. ...
  2. In the Experiments window, type in dark or dark mode in the box.
  3. Next to Dark/light mode of system UI, click on the Enabled button.
  4. Choose the Disabled option.

I'm out now but will look later, never seen the expreiments window, where might I find that?

Seems it's a Beta thing you need to download, not sure I'm up to that.

Despite what Trevskoda might/will post..
You cannot beat a proper windows laptop.
Some might say Apple but they are too costly for no real advantage (IMO).
However I do subscribe to the plan "Get something that works for you" and so pay up, and be happy.
I quite like my tablet but it does have its frustrations.
And I can usually work round the issues.
And benefit overall when travelling.
I have ised and Hp Stream ..ok until windows updates filled the disk.
Then an Asus transformer which was great until the heat here in Thailand fubared the screen.

Not sure what you picked up on, but I am happy with it just a bit confused as the the ins and outs of the Chrome book, I also have two Dell laptops which I use during the day but too heavy for streaming at night in bed, and also need a brick to charge so not good for the van, the chromebook is 1.7kg and has a USB C connector so very ideal in the van and easy to charge with a good battery life, and of course it keeps the old bonce alive figuring out how a different system, or at least trying to :D :D

I still have the Tab A tablet, but typing on it is a pain as it's a one digit job as you need to hold the damned thing too and you lose half the screen and attaching files or pictures is a pain so It only ever got used to stream or respond to email/posts, the Chromebook is much more versatile and had a much bigger screen too, it's all good.

It was set to Auto, I switched it on to Light and the bookmark bar went to light and all was well and we lived happily ever after.

Next, I'm really happy with the Chromebook but still on the learning curve, there is no caps lock or num lock, the numeric pad seems to be set to just work but not used it in earnest yet, but see keyboard picture and there is no caps lock I can see.

Also is there any photo editing software I can you instead of Post Image? as I don't think it'll even install never mind work, Just for cropping and adding text or boxes etc to the pictures, nothing dramatic.

Is the 3rd key/button up from the bottom on the lh side of the keyboard a Caps Lock, Kev? My Windows laptop has no numeric pad, so I use the 2nd row number keys, alongside the 'disability access' on screen keyboard [the actual zero key and euro symbol keys have stopped working and I'm too mean to ditch the laptop just yet ...]. It slows down data input, but there's no rush or output targets to achieve ...

My laptop is dying by instalments, but I would like to keep it staggering along until after the anticipated Winter Trip in Brunhilde. No sensible person would steal it, whereas a brand new machine sitting alone for 3 months or so might tempt a passing thief

No it's called the launcerh button Steve, it bring up all the apps installed.

Laptops direct have the same model laptop as mine, I'm mega pleased with it, it's Dell Latitude E5570, good spec, £170 ish

Press Search + Alt on your keyboard. When you've finished, press the same keys to turn caps lock off again.

All I'm doing is using Google to search ....there is a world of info out there from Chromebook users you know .

I did actually and found that, what it didn't tell me is where the search key is as there isn't one on this keyboard, and no clue as to there it is.

No the first thing is to ignore any feelings of paranoia Trev ;) ;)

Why would I buy a Chromebook then ignore the Chrome bit, it is senseless and pointless to my mind.
Cause chrome is a fancy word for GOOGLE, ditch and install duckduckgo or firefox secure web browser & thunderbird to pull any email acc through, better safe than sorry.

I'm very pleased with it now I got over the learning curve and use it every day, but not as my main puter although I think it would cope with what I do if I was to get into it, it's certainly dast enough.

I wouldn't get one with a MMC drive go for 128 SSD much quicker, 15.6inch screen and 8gb RAM if you can find one although this 4gb RAM one seems to be quick enough TBH.
