Hi just checking who’s going over this year, MOT and insurance sorted ,
Tunnel booked for 26th January so just over 5 weeks away and we are in Spain for ten weeks ,
Can’t wait for some ☀️ sunshine ☀️,
It’s been 14 years since we last went to Spain and then only wild camped on the way there and back , most sites seem to be booked for February and March , can you wild camp for extended periods if you move every few days

We are off on the 14th Jan and crossing through the tunnel on the 16th. We are having a slightly shorter trip to Spain next year (47 days) as we are going down to Sicily in April so need to manage our Schengen days for that trip too.

We managed just shy of 2 months in March & April this year, much of it around Barcelona, moving every 3 or 4 days on the free network of Aires operated by the Wine Growers. Hopping back and forth between Vilafranca del Penedes and Santa Margarida [about 1.5 miles apart] worked out very well. Photo of site locations attached.

If I read yor post correctly St Omer to Bordeaux is a very long way.
Or have I got the wrong St Omer

Just on way back now from 12 weeks in Spain/ Portugal, only used campsites for about 7 days, wild the rest, no problem finding lovely spots think police turn a blind eye this time of year, must say seen very few brit vans, thinking with the 90 day thing people are maybe waiting until after Christmas is over now

What’s the 48 hr rule please

Max length of stay at many Aires. Vilafranca Del Penedes is unusual in allowing 72 hours stay, and when I asked a M/Homer who had been on site continually for over a week, what the Rules were, he replied, 'If you have a problem with the Police trying to move you on, tell them Alfredo said it was OK. Until a few months ago, I was their Police Captain ...' Spain at its best [but it was late March/early April and there was spare capacity ...]
Steve

some caught out last year the 48 hrs applies to an area not an individual site so moving couple of miles down the road doesn’t work,

Great thanks for the reply’s hopefully see some of you out there

Best leave until Jan..we are in La Linea now and the weather is horrendous...

We have just recently booked to sail from Portsmouth on the 8th January, we normally have done the Portsmouth to Santander route, but there were no cabins left, we left it to late as we were hoping to spend the winter in Thailand, but the flights were triple the price that we have normally paid before and it meant flying overnight, I preferred the day flights we used to use, so going to Caen and drive down the west coast, just hope the weather improves, I have family who live is Spain and the weather has been rubbish the last few days.
