We are on this Aire today N39. 042 W 6.32987 lovely Aire just off the N630 Motorway very quiet plenty of room we just called in to empty toilet and get water but it is so nice here that we have done washing and had cold showers in van no hot water , heater kaput, but it is 26 degrees here so a cold shower is very refreshing there is a small town here but not looked at it yet, P 4 N site. It is not too far from Caseres so if on that route it would be a good second choice as Caseres is often full.

We spent a day and night on the parking at PLASCENCIA yesterday good spot on the River and a large park it was so hot yesterday there 36 degrees till 8 pm lovely old coty to explore but all up hill and in the heat it was hard work, Left there today and are now at BEJAR high in the mountains still hot though, We are on a P 4 N Site old railway station very interesting miles of cycling along the old track route, the Station and other buildings still here but looking neglected, town looks huge, walled, we are not going up there though as knackered from yesterday, only called in to dump toilet as all facilities here, but wife did some washing too so we may or may not be here for the night, there is a water outlet permantly running from the Train refill tower and all the bikers and walkers stop to fill their water bottles and drink the water so it must be potable there is a drinking water tap for vanners too, if any one has lost a BRAVE, AMERICAN VAN it is here seized by the Police it seems it is looking rough so been here for some time, a long lit railway tunnel runs under the mountain which the town sits on and bunkers ride through, we walked in for about 30 metres and then got scared hee hee

Was there a few weeks ago
Hotel across road is very friendly and does decent food

Well we got up to the town later yesterday hard trudge up as very steep and cobbled, but great views and interesting town, had a few beverages and it was a lot easier coming down hee hee, left there this morning and called in at a baragem P 4 N for a coffee and then on to Salamanca where we are on the main aire with services, petrol station supermarket and a bus into the City 1.5 euros each way each number 21 so of we go. P 4 N again.

Well we had a good wander round Salamanca City beautiful buildings big Plazas cafes bars and Pasterilas for delicious cakes etc lots of happy people sitting in the sun having a drink and socialising all really laid back, bus back to the van all very easy and a good aire, We are enjoying this route going North A66 free motorway, we are calling it route 66 great scenery, mountains rivers and the great plane, 1200 metres high at one point today, the road is perfect very little traffic and mainly. 120 kms hour speed limit but I am happy to chug along at about 60 mph, no hurry, I don't think it would be a good route down going South in winter as I think there could be a lot of snow and ice, any one done it Wintertime?

We are now at Valladolid on a pay aire 5 euros 24 hours with services but no electric. Nice Aire 15 min walk to the city along the river and through parkland and Rose gardens. Large pitches too barrier at entrance that opens to let you in and park, reads your Reg plate and you then have to go to the machine and pay , not easy as it is not straight forward to do, all seem to have trouble with it I did but got there in the end, P
4 N site, you must depart after 24 hours or the barrier won't open and you have to pay for the overstay, I assume that if you want extra days stay you get another ticket daily but no where does it say that. Valladolid is a lovely city wide streets and lots of old buildings but the old town is narrow of course , all worth a Visit on your travels

Beginning of March on our way home it was full :)

Well the Aire filled up whilst we were there too but vans parked all over the place outside the Aire folks sleeping in cars and snall vans too Police drove round and didn't care that we were sat outside some with canopies out a few washing lines too heaven just as it should be in a free and easy society I think. Alll was clean and tidy folks caring about the environment around them.

We now at Vitoria Gasteiz Aire, full, many vans parked all around the car park surrounding the air, even a converted Coach love it, we had trouble getting out of the pay aire at Valladolid barrier wouldn't open, May Day holiday here eeekk any way finally got the barrier to raise and let us out, more of these Aires appearing it seems and a lot of stupid conditions attached ie pay for 24 hours but if you leave early the pitch is still occupied and not available for reuse, last night alluminated signs said parking full but there were plenty of empty pitches so no one could get in, strange way to run a business I think? Weather here is great high temperatures late into the evening too, loving it. Market day here Wednesday on the adjacent parking so that will be fun, we plan to stay for the market and join the mayhem, hee hee they have been doing this for years so must be happy with the way it works, if it does hee hee.

Trig, there should be 2 options on exiting the Aire; the first is a temporary absence [e.g. leaving for a Day Trip]; the second is for permanent departure which makes the pitch available to new customers. If the pitch occupants choose the wrong option, it ain't the Aire Operator's fault, but it does bugger things up for people waiting to use an empty pitch!

The pitch occupant doesn't chose the wrong option he choses what he wants to do If the Aire operater wants to get all tecky he should do it right ie have a system where the pitch user can leave permanently or temporarily, by passing on this information. thus either freeing up the pitch or reserving it till the paid for time elapses, there seems to be more of this type of aire becoming the norm we encountered one at Merida where the site was half empty but the entrance barrier would not let any one enter and had electronic signs saying venue full, and about 8 vans in a queue trying to get in, and a frustrated attendant trying to explain that it was out of his control, this Aire was a new business venture pilot so image if this becomes the norm.

I'll agree to disagree with you. We've used Aires in France where the temporary or permanent departure question appears on the gate screen, and if the pitch occupant selects 'temporary', the system records the pitch as occupied, and therefore not available to new arrivals. even if the departing motorhomer is leaving the pitch permanently
