DWP looking into our bank accounts

Told you so, if using android or windows they will gather your bank acc details and follow all your soc media.
Advice, dont use the above unless a vpn and tor web browser, dont move monies through a bank in GB.
Or stay like me poor and barefooted, what I will say is 50% of folk here will be in trouble, maybe we should go into the goel building biz.

These powers have been in force in a non digital way and were being used when I worked in the Inland Revenue back in the early 1970s. A good example being the requirement of banks and building societies to supply details of interest paid to individuals to HMIT. On the self employed side, a percentage of individuals would be expected to supply paper details of payments and invoices etc for closer scrutiny. Suspected evasion cases were interviewed and could be expected to supply details of amounts of money paid for holidays, spend at Christmas, tobacco consumption, alcohol etc and could build a very detailed picture of income with quite heavy fines and interest if fraud was detected, although plea bargaining could occur. So the system is simply being brought into the 21st century.
How very unfair I hear some say, but think of it in Motorhome terms, a minority of people who cannot or will not comply with how the hobby should be pursued, bringing down restrictions and more rules on the compliant majority.
Did you know that HM Customs and Revenue can enter your property without a warrant.
And I will add, before somebody gurns, I believe these powers would be better used against millionaire tax dodgers than those on benefits, although no one should be above the law.
The Revenue probably uses Linux, so Trev will be top of the list when they scan this forum! :devilish:

Well I'm not worried so long as I let them know if I'm out of the country for more than 4 weeks, not sure how they would know unless passport control informs them.

Way I see it if your not cheating the system then you have nothing to worry about, but I do wish they would put as much effort into collecting the millions lost on contracts for mates during the pandemic. 😡

That’s the problem though, the big multi-nationals can afford to defraud legally. I think anyone who trades or works in the U.K. should be liable to U.K. tax if they don’t like it go elsewhere, sure someone will step in to take their places

100% true about the customs and tax entering your home, but they can only sit and must have a court warrent to open any drawers etc.
That is how they catch the cowboys here who have been making monies through drugs and protection rackets.
This reminds me i have my books to go in this mth.

I have no problem with it, the more they can do to catch the thieving swine who make false claims which are met out of our axes the better.
My Daughter-in-Law was handling claims and used to enjoy the work (now she does something slightly different). Let's just say that with her Family background she knew more fiddles than the claimants. :ROFLMAO:

She used to run rings round them and trip them up with questions out of the blue. She had access to all kinds of information and some of the claimants (the ones with bad memories), often got their Benefits cut after an investigation. :ROFLMAO:

When she came across a genuine case of hardship caused by not claiming entitlements, she went the extra nine yards to sort them out. Including helping them to fill in Forms correctly and following up to make sure they were sorted.

Technically if you ask if there are any more benefits you could claim they are supposed to help you find them and help you get them, same goes for HMRC. I never had an accountant, I used to take all my accounts into Leeds HMRC office and they would help me to usually pay no tax at all or vey little, I don't know the system now as it's all bean counters and no one has time, and then you have to be lucky enough to find the ones who actually still care enough to help people.

hi guys . they only stamp your passport on your way back .cheyenne

I think your passport is scanned on the way out, I have always handed them over to passport control at tunnel ? You also purchase tickets out, big brother knows everything if they investigate.

When I ceased trading they reckoned I owed them some VAT, I went to the Leeds office several times to prove I didn't then they lost my paperwork, then they hounded me for about five years until eventually they stopped.

If you carry ANY phone (not just Android!) you are being tracked and your life is open already. They know where you are, what transactions you make with it. How many calls you make and who you message. All through the phone companies. No matter how good encryption is, they may not be able to see the inside of the transaction, but they know it has been made. The banks can give the information on spends with the help of a court order!
Every time you use a debit or credit card, you are in the system. They know what car you have, your address, your work status, and where you holiday. How many kids you have and all about them also. And as more and more businesses go cashless, they will get more information. Me? I just do what I do and don't let it worry me. How many of us have smart speakers? Did you know that they listen all the time? We got one in the bedroom as an alarm clock... That'll disappoint them! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Glad I don't believe all that or worry about.

It's all true! Maybe held by different organisations, but court orders go far. Even a few years ago, we could find details and track whereabouts by following the trail left by cards and social media. No point in worrying though, the genie is out of the bottle.

I'm sure under court order they can find out a lot of but without no I don't think they can, we have privacy laws to prevent such things.

I worry not, I'm small fry compared to the rogues who run this country.
