Interesting comments from the Vine person

Can't abide him but he does say some that I absolutely agree with.

we can only hope what it says in the headline for him. I always turn him off if get into the car between 12 and 2.
So he is turning 60 and thinks he will be put out to pasture? (not read article). There are plenty of radio presenters older than he is (Tony Blackburn turned 80 earlier this year for example, and he replaced the older Brian Matthews who was on radio 2 every week until he was 89).

I hope so too then I can watch eggheads again.

that's the one :)
He used to record his 'Sounds of the 60's' show from his home studio in Scotland, and I think he was actually in Fife IIRC?

Yes it was a good show on Saturday or Sunday morning.

I like it best when there was a guest presenter every week, usually a well known pop star or Band member. When they changed to a BBC presenter (I forget his name) he was just playing crap for his own amusement. That is when I stopped listening to what was my favourite radio programme.

that vine person ! is the same one in my scout jamboree post who rushed to say that the british scouts were abating the site ! yes because it had been closed down but the brits are staying to fulfil other commitments the US contingent already home , all these media types can’t see a bandwagon without jumping on board

If they do get rid of him it won’t be because he is 60. More likely that half of us never liked him anyway and the other half are now losing interest. The only unfair thing is that so many of us have had to dive for the off switch for many years.

I have the radio tuned in to Greatest Hits Radio (Yorkshire) ads are annoying but you can subscribe to have none not sure how that works on a car radio.

I just download the music to my phone (no ads and no presenter) and listen to that when away from home.

I have plenty on the phone but I like to hear the news and traffic reports too.

The JY prog, Terry Wogan and the Togs. Great radio. We used to listen to the TW show on the way to the next IT job. We'd be in stitches sometimes (most times!) Some of his Janet and John series were on the cusp for their time, but never dirty and always funny. Here is one...

I have them all on MP3 if anyone wants a copy.

I am probably the only one here who doesn't know how to download music on to a phone. I have copied CDs from my computer to my phone but I wouldn't know how to get a podcast or download music from the radio to the phone. In the 1960s of course I recorded the Top 20 on to tape and listen to it several times but I haven't a clue about radio-to-phone.
