Might help if you indicated whether it is new or used. "Re-registering" suggests used, in which case ensure that you have or can obtain an original certificate of conformity.

I should have put used old motorhome 2005, we do have the original log book if that is what you mean.
No, not logbook, original manufacturer's certificate of conformity. It might be that it is no longer required since Brexit, but back in early 2016 it was a vital piece of paper without which DVLA would not register the vehicle. If the original is not available, a duplicate certificate of conformity should be obtained from the manufacturer.

Any idea what a certificate of conformity looks like? As I do not recall anything with this on, only log book.

Mine was a 3-page document issued by the motorhome manufacturer, mainly in German but including in the heading the words "Certificate of Conformity", and containing a considerable amount of technical data.

As far as I can recall never had anything of that nature. Not sure what to do now. Dont think the place we brought it from is even there now.

Would there be any other way around this?

  1. Check that DVLA still require this.
  2. Does the motorhome manufacturer still exist? They should be able to issue a DUPLICATE (NOT a copy!!!). Probably simplest to give them the VIN to enable them to identify the unit.
  3. If 1 or 2 does not apply, may require a full examination of the vehicle.
I've been assuming throughout that you have recently imported the vehicle yourself. If you simply mean that it was UK-registered after being imported and that the registration was somehow allowed to lapse, different (perhaps simpler) requirements may apply.

Thank you for all the advice.
I will phone DVLA to find out. Googled the manufacturer last night but nothing came up in Spain but found out that they no longer trading
So if they do need it looks like full examination will be necessary.

Different country but same procedure, I presume. When I imported my previous 1999 motorhome from Germany to Portugal, the Certificate of Conformity (COC) was required. I contacted Pössl the company who transformed the Peugeot Boxer and the reply was that Certificate was for the base vehicle and issued by the manufacturer in this case, Peugeot. This was in 2018
