diesel heaters r v /garage

hi guys . just bought a diesel heater for the garage had one in one of our m/h's years ago never got any sleep

pump ticking / blower was like a jet taking off/ people parked up next to you complaining about the exhausts noise . anyway in our garage had a lpg room heater & it went up to £ 90 a refill so that why i bought the diesel heater . it does not matter about the noise its just a garage but boy am i glad its not in the m/h ( we have alde heating ) cost of the heater (e-bay £103 )

Previous van (Chausson?) had a diesel heater . Couldn't hear a thing .
Had to put my hand to the exhaust to check it was on

I can't hear our eberspacher from further away than about a metre ...

BUT then I installed it with a intake silencer and double exhaust silencers ...
Pump is suspended in a rubber housing so is also near silent ....

Be careful with the all in one Chinese types as they are difficult to install in a safe manner so that any exhaust connections are outside as a component model would be using a turret mount .

Mine came prefitted .
Noisiness of these machines has been mentioned in a few threads over the years . Always puzzled me

I've dealt with eberspacher diesel heaters since I left school in the 1980s ...

Badly installed they can be awful/noisy/and frankly dangerous ...

Installed well they are cheap to run/reliable/warm and safe heating ...

No surprise that the bulk of the uks wagon fleet run them ...

well its only for my garage just glad we have the alde wet radiators heating with no sound in the M/H . cheyenne

As long as the heater (all in one or otherwise)
Is installed safely ....then alls good

I personally prefer genuine eberspacher in the motorhome for the better fuel/power economy due to the functioning thermostat ...

That said I run a all in one Chinese clone for the greenhouse ...
As I'm not breathing the same air as it does ..

I fitted a Chinese all in one 2 years ago in my garage ran the air intake and exhaust through the wall and extended the exhaust so the fumes did not recycle up the air intake, and it has worked faultlessly.
I also installed a 3 kw Chinese heater to the chassis of my VVW T6.1 Transporter, I fitted the fuel pump with a plastic cover then covered it with external pipe insulation and you can’t here the pump ticking at all and this heater has worked faultlessly too.

hi john . am a newbie to this heater we dont have gas in our village so run our heating in the bungalow off kerosene will that fuel run the chinese heater & red diesel is hard to get hold will kerosene work do you know thanks . cheyenne

Kerosene/parrafin/diesel/red diesel are all fine in diesel heaters ...
In fact kero/parrafin bur slightly cleaner than diesel ...

I used to run a gallon of kerosene through our truck heaters once a year to keep the combustion chambers/gauze/glow pins clean ...

Just make sure there is no chance of the heater drawing combustion fumes into any living area and that any exhaust joints are external .

And a Co monitor is essential IMHO

Looks ok to me. If you ever intend using it when you are in the van I would extend exhaust so it exits away from the van though

One end fits nicely into the other to double up ...

Standard flex exhaust fits over the other end when split and secured with a jubilee clip .

Makes a big big difference to noise level especially when paired with a intake silencer .

Can't hear ours from further away than 3 feet ...
Especially on grass rather than tarmac .

Have you used, or considered using a boat exhaust mounting at the very end? Quite like the look of them but not seen one on a van. Not sure how good an idea mounted to fibreglass skirt though.

You got the pit bike silencers on show?

They're tucked up away on the chassis extension under the rear skirts ...

Not visible from outside unless you look right underneath .

hi guys . we had diesel heating 4 m/h's ago & being a light sleeper due to a house break-in years ago we couldn't get along with it so after that diesel heating was a no-no .our present m/h has alde heating radiator type with no noise what so ever it does have 2 blowers for cold mornings to boost up the temp . anyway here is the garage photo's .cheyenne p.s just waiting for some brite spark to come along & say " YOU DONT WANT TO DO THAT "

who will it be
