I just bought Liz another one, her old one (Dell Inspiron N5110) is falling apart but still works absolutely fine despite being held together with carton tape and the hinges about to fall off, it has holes in the bottom and the fan keeps screaming when she forget to put it on a hard surface, it is a Dell, it has 8gb of ram and 256SSD drive 15.6 inch screen.

So I bought her a refurb one the other day a Dell Latittude E5570 the same as mine, it arrived yesterday and looks brand spanking new, with no wear on any part of it, sadly it has Win 11 on it, so I've been setting it up, I'm thinking of getting one for me and use this one of mine as the spare, and put my old spare on Ebay as it does still work okay if a little slow.

She bought hers new in 2011 so it's 12 years old, but looks much older and weighs a ton.

Bought my MacBook Pro in 2013 but it was the 2012 model year version. Purposely went for that as you can (and I have) upgrade memory, HDD etc just like any normal laptop, plus it had a DVD burner which newer ones don’t.

Still works find and everything is as it should be with the exception of a couple of letters on keys are starting to lose their markings.

Did replace the battery (myself) about 5 years ago but that’s because I usually charge then use on battery rather than leaving plugged in.

Downside now is the latest OSX will not go on but I can cope with that, still all updates I need on what it runs 👍

Got 2 here, one is a very old 32 bit stoneage job and latest one is a duo with 4 gig mem, still old but runs linux lite fast as a new windows installed l top, and secure to boot, given to me by b inlaw for working on his car. :)

One is a 5 year old Dell, biggest I could get at the time as the company was paying.
Second is a 2 year old Huawei I got for my Dad as it had fingerprint recognition (like the Dell). He still insisted it didn't work properly.🙄

All the main computors< 5 off them > used here are old duo 64 bit fujitsu espremo towers costing £25 each of ebay, rebooted to linux lite.

Just totted up ours, Liz now has two Dells, I have two, and also an Acer Chromebook, I have two tablets and two phones, Liz has two iPads and an iPhone.

Eleventeen devices between us.

One of mine is on ebay as of yesterday.

Try booting you extra l top to linux lite, then add the new browsers etc, you can duel boot saving windows, you will be ask at bootup which sys you want to open. (y)

Why for would I do that? The worst that can happen is some one post crap on the forums but I already do that or they might steal my recipes.

Pah!!

Liz eats all my honey, all I see is mt jars.

My present laptop is SO SLOW! it can't really decide whether it is 32 bit or 64. I have never deleted cookies, coz I don't what'll happen so that might be part of the problem, but my phone is so much faster. Laptop must be 15 plus years old. 512 gb ssd, but very low ram. But I'm very reluctant to go for a new one. Old dog, new tricks and all that. I don't fancy W11, but it'd be silly to go back to 10. I get a lot of mail from ink jets and cartridges, and there's some very good sounding prices, but everything is refurbished and therefore old technology.

What lap top, do everything on my phone these days 😀

got two working ones ... one is coming up for 10 years old and also can double as a 13.3" tablet (removable screen); second (one using now) is 4 1/2 years old.

Avoid using my phone when possible for any prolonged use. Tablet is ok-ish for most things, but Laptop (or Desktop) best.

Any duo 64 bit or i3 will do with 2 gig or 4 gig mem, try using linux mint or lite which to me is better and much faster than win, plus no google sticking there nose in, it come with google but you can dowload falcon from the repostory, all free and works with everything, look distrowatch .com

I'd delete the cookies, it will for get any passwords for sites you are logged on to but Google (if you use it) and enabled it to remember passwords will log you back in again next time, look in System in Control panel for 32/64 bit info then see what it's like then.
