Particularly useful if looking for a campsite rather than some poxy layby on Park4night

Use it quite a bit, especially when overseas. I find some of the translations of the reviews hilarious. We once went to one of their locations just to see what the “spontaneous hostess“ looked like. Turned out to be a burly Dutchman in a vest!

I've only tried it here and all I seem to get is pub stops, I'm okay in the UK, it's for France so I'll need to set up the right filters I expect.

There is also an Android app that costs €5 for 3 months or €15 for a year and can be used online or (if you download data for the regions that you are likely to visit) offline. It has links to the Google Translate app (download that if translations required) for translations of both database content and user comments.

Additionally, you have the WildCamping Location App, which has an excellent range of POIs in France, including some great ones identified by Canalsman (former WildCamping POI Admin).

Campercontact has a useful search facility and filters which can be used to plan trips.
It can also be used to find loo emptying points, I've found this very ' convenient. '

Have used this app for a few years now it is the only one I use . Very good for night stops and camp sites Travel Holland, France ,Germany with no problem finding a place.

I use it all the time Kev. It is of most use outside this septic isle. During my recent time away in Scandi it was of great help.

Here’s a dashcam vid of one place we went to in Norway, it isn’t signposted, there’s no mention of it anywhere excepting that it’s on Camper Contact. No way could you find it if you weren’t a ‘local’. We parked up next to the Norwegian couple, he spoke no English, she was very good and we had a good long chat.

3 minutes long and for a while I thought we were driving through a large farm complex until we got to the spot down by the sea.

Found it useful in Germany this year when Search for Sites didn't show any within that area. The site reviews can be strange sometimes but they are are lot better than my Dutch!

The issue with the site reviews is probably that they are translated by a translation engine; such tools tend to encounter difficulty when faced with very colloquial language and poor grammar and/or spelling.
