I’ve recently been quoted £820, by AIB, up by £200+ on last year - apart from the general increase I’m told it’s because of my post code (Bradford 9) and the fact that my van is on the road. Anyone else with these issues found a cheaper provider? The guy at AIB said he’s spent ages looking and that’s the cheapest he can get. Is it even worth looking for something cheaper? Thanks for any advice.

Might be worth your while to find a storage solution if you don’t use it everyday !
Some places do a pay by month used so you don’t pay when your away

Did you live in that postcode last year? Was your van on the road at that time too? If so nothing has changed then has it?

We have used Safeguard for the last few years who come in cheaper for us each year as I always do some comparisons.

BD9 isn't a good area sadly, some streets worse than others, it used to be in the early 1900s but I've lived there and other bad areas like West Bowling etc, Keighley is supposed to be a bad area and some of it is, but I pay £280 on the drive.

Storage might help but that's going to be at least £300 plus on its own, best is to move (obviously) or ask a friend who has a drive and give them a few bob towards the cost of EHU.

Have a look here for a quote, it might be better.

Insurance companies are stuffing the premium increases through the roof, blaming Brexit, COVID and energy bills increases, whilst reducing the cover that they provide. As a result, profits are rising and the CEOs pocket large bonuses for 'creating value', which any fool could do in such a monopolistic/cartel environment.

There are cheaper Quotes out there , ours had gone up £200 on last year , searched about & got it for the same as last year. Some say if there not a known Company don't go with them but I always go for the cheaper on Car & Van.

I was surprised how inexpensive NFU were when I used them last year and they regularly get top marks for customer service. Maybe worth a phone call

Keighley is lovely. I spent a week there (stayed in the Premier Inn or some such dive) 10 years ago. Had a very enlighted evening one time in the pub listening in to a couple of young guys discussing the best way to get around their ankle jewellery (Tags).

Aviva increase will be £86 higher but £31 of this will be for adding legal expenses cover

Steve

All our insurances (car, MH and house) went up last year except our Car Excess Insurance which went down by 7 quid strangely!

Just to say that you can get legal expenses insurance as a standalone product from the RAC and you don't need to be a member to buy it. Unlike most of the insurance company's policy it covers you as an individual so you don't need it on every vehicle insurance policy and you can add up to four family members at no extra cost (they must live at the same address though) all for £15.00/year 🤔

Same here. So when it came to insuring my classic car, I naturally called NFU. Six times before I spoke to anyone. Strangely I thought, they said I already have a policy and I would just add the car to the policy. But when it came to adding my car, they wanted £180 for the remaining 6 months of the policy whereas on some comparison site I could have got a year's insurance on it for £100, including breakdown and legal. So when the NFU comes to renewal I will look elsewhere. I will also go to the NEC and ask C&CC for a quote which I think from memory was good.
