I just put "motorhome" into Temu

I'm waiting for the day when LED lights last as long as and perform as well as they claim. It doesn't matter where you get your LEDs they will fail in 12 months turned on or not.
Strange as i have ones from when they first came out and 99% are still working, many were at first over driven but so much lecy saved in our house as kids never switch of anything.

I have noticed a few youtube videos on how to repair faulty LED lights. It just takes a single LED to fail and the light stops working. It seems easy enough to sort ot the faulty one.

So far, we have been changing every lamp to LED, and none have failed, and neither have any in our camper.

Actually, that's a bit of a fib. We have old fashioned exterior security lamps around the house and garden (mainly to see whatever wildlife enters the garden.. badger, fox, etc) and they are all fine except the LED lamp. In our part of East Sussex we suffer from minor irritating temporary power cuts which blows the LED and are on our third lamp.

Not sure whether to go back to one more old fashioned, or try one last time with LED. 🤔

I've lost count of how many LED lamps I have bought from IKEA and have failed. Others also failed and none close to the stated multi-thousand hour life.
latest one to fail is one in a bedside lamp that went a couple of days ago.

I knew the irish would have someting to do with temu, every bit of sh-t always lands on our door. 😂 who owns temu.jpg

I have always bought better quality LED lights for the motorhomes because they are rated to handle a wide voltage, which is essential in a motorhome. That makes me wonder why they cannot do that with higher voltage systems. If they did, I don't suppose they would blow.

Maybe my voltage at home does not vary because I have never had an LED blow. I have 14 LED lights and 2 LED security lights.

The quality has got better and most rated to 240v, here in NI our voltage is 230v but can go up a point or two, i even have 5/6 ft led strip lamps in the workshops, think about 19 between all three, only one died in 4 years or more.
Miles better than the old yellow gas strip lamps, and you can switch them of and on at will, unlike the old starter lamps which should not be turned of within half an hr of lighting.

it's a tax scam, pure and simple, for companies selling into the EU.
This is why the per capita GDP in Ireland is one of the highest in the world, not that the average resident would have any experience of that or benefit from it.

Correct, poor paddy never gets his pockets filled, as you say lots of co do this, not right in my eyes but money/greed rulls the world.

Yes, Temu is cheap. But I would not have the App on any of my devices. A company has to make money, if not it will go very quickly. So where is the money coming from? Data! Not only do they have your details that they do sell on, they have access to your device through background apps that you have no idea are there. I can't find it at the moment, but a BBC consumer investigation highlighted it. You download the app and in the background, normally when the device is on but not used (when charging) the app downloads other apps that can take details from your personal information. These are not "cookies" but spy wear. THAT is where the money comes from. You could say they make money on slavery and greed.

I never download apps that need me to spend money if I can help it and even then only if I can use Paypal, I buy on the PC and still use Paypal.

You don't need the app. It is on any platform and yes, even Apple products. Just be careful. Nothing is for nothing.

I bought both items in photos the fly screen was the same ad but £12.50 ,the table brackets £6.50 a pair both arrived quickly and are of decent quality. If you do a Google search the exact same photos of the fly screen can be found with various retailers at very different prices...no doubt those retailers bought from the same factory as me but at even lower cost

Hence as i have said many times, dont do things like that on a smart ph, or put banking details on it, a linux based or pure android ph is ok.
Me i do all on a more secure linux home pc, and yes lots of money made selling folks details to third parties.

I agree and would not,do not have the app,I don't have a lot of tech knowhow but suspect the Chinese would not see any commercially available "system"as an insurmountable problem

I was gobsmacked a the variety of stuff they have, some crap of course but som clever ideas too, and of course cheaper than in the UK

Just a sample:-

Maybe It would be good to have somewhere on the forum where people have bought items from these companies, and show only the items which work and good for the purpose

At my last job, before early retirement, I worked for a small import agency dealing mainly in casting & forgings.
We sourced UK customers for a variety of manufacturers including a couple in China. Two examples...
One particular manufacturer produced a wheel brace, complete with Renault part number. That was supplied at a cost of £0.30.
Also supplied a 4 tonne hydraulic jack for a Range Rover.
All fully tested both in China and again in the UK.
The cost for this ? £9.00.
I believe the cost to buy in the UK at that time was over £100 !!
Both of these examples, to me, show that it is rip off British companies that are fooling us into thinking that supplies from China must be rubbish.

We bought some LED tech very early on, cost us £8 each for GU10 spotlamp back in 2010. 1 failed after a couple of weeks but the other 30 or so are still going strong and entering 14 years of service, the ones in the kitchen are on pretty much most of the day every day too so have already done about 35-40 thousand hours! Seems the Chinese quickly realised that they needed to build in obsolescence and everything we've purchased since seems to only last about a year. The cheap (£1) ones from Screwfix seem reasonable considering the cost.
