I just had the new starter battery fitted (not the one pictured) van fired up immediately but it's only showing 11.9v, new Ctek not arrived yet, but I recall David saying it didn't loom fused so I took another picture before he pulled the old one out, and it doesn't look fused to me on the new red cables in the yellow squares.

I am pretty sure that the thinner wire is on the live side of the battery, and should be fused close to the battery. The other, thicker wire might be on the fused side of the red fuse, it is difficult to see in the photo, it should be fused!!

The thick wire goes into a black shrink sleeve, not very bright :rolleyes:

Can anyone tell me if the two connection points in the OP picture are fused or not fused please?
 
They don't look like they are .that's why said in my previous post are they fused the other end of cables..

Yes I got that, I should have got down and had a proper look but the mechanic had another job booked and I didn't want to delay him as he was doing the fit as a favour, so he could do a service this morning for me.

I've tried to find info on it but it's eluding me so far.
 
I think this is the same bracket, I put the vans spec into the ebay page.

What are you hoping to find? What you have there is what you have, is standard, and you can see where the fuses are, and where you need to add an in-line holder.

FWIW, this is my starter battery and I added a cable for the B2B same place where you have an added cable

But the next photo shows the key part - a midi-fuse holder that is tucked away to the side. This is something you need to add yourself (but should have been done by the installer for sure).

Does look as though the coloured ¿plastic? items are fuses, with ratings indicated on them. Brown one, for example, presumably rated at 70 amps.
 
I would look at this as well (in the green square)

Cable has been joined fairly close to the battery distribition plate. why? was cable too short to reach? or was this mean to be a fuse holder? maybe even a fuse fitted directly without a holder to lugs and heat shrinked over? That bit is not normal (IMO anyway).

It looks just like a join to me David, not a fuse holder.

It is a shite job I agree.

The two thin wires going down out of sight are from the old Ctek charger, they are protected when the cover is back on, and fused in the unit itself.

Those cables need fuses next to the battery. What good are fuses elsewhere when that leaves the cable unprotected. If the insulation rubs through on a metal part you will end up with fireworks. Both cables appear to have joins where it looks like there may have been or should have been fuses.

I've not said where they need to be fused .just said are they fused at the other end of cables.
 
The work was done by one of the MCEA people two years ago, I trying to get them to do it properly, but if they refuse not much I can do.
