Seen at a park up @ Loch Ness today.

45 year old van, owned by a Swiss couple for the last 43 years.

They came to Scotland in it 41 years ago with their kids, now re-visiting on their own in the same van 👌😎

Ok for a day out for a couple but not good for more than a one night, possibly two night stay. Better for a single person though.

I had a girlfriend like that, in the 60s.
Slightly off topic, sorry....!
But reliving the memories.

The box on the back is a work of art, and no doubt can tell its own story but, how do they get away with no Extended Load Plate?

Don't know, they've added token orange markers to the box which should be red, but do you need one if the carrier box doesn't obscure the vehicle plate and lights etc, just a thought ??

Obviously they are not a legal requirement in this country but they must have driven in the EU to get here.

I’m didn’t notice the reg or see the back but I’m pretty sure we saw this in Westray last week. After all what are the chances of two green VW combis with broadly the same appearance this close together.

In the 80's we used to go to the South of France for 6 or 7 weeks in a Fiat Amigo like these two and loved it, me, Maggy and three kids but it was designed to sleep 5
Based on a Fiat 850/900T, I fitted Lada front suspension including wishbones and disks, Alfa Romeo 14" alloys and a Fiat 127 Sport engine and gearbox, from 46HP to 70HP and a lot higher gearing, it cruised at 70 mph and returned 40+mpg, the only problem that I had was when I first tried the new engine and box, I put it in first gear and reversed into the garage wall, I hadn't considered that Fiat 127's were front-mounted engines which ran clockwise and 900T's were rear mounted so the engine ran anti-clockwise:eek:, a new camshaft cured that
It was destroyed in a workshop fire in 1990 but I wish I still had it☹️

Just sitting having a coffee in Banchory and what looks like exactly the same VW has just pottered past heading Ballater / Braemar way, so it looks like their adventure continues.

There won't be another that looks like that, Tony, so it will be them 👍

If anyone spots them parked up (and they're not exploring away from the van) go say hello, they're a really lovely couple.

Off to Ballater Friday for lunch in the Fish Shop (best place to eat in Britain!!j and I’ll take a wander around the lovely little community site there to see if it’s where they’re staying by any chance.
