Hi all I have an Avtex MK 1 navigation satellite system which I have used since 2018, having returned from a two month trip in Europe we had a couple of glitches on route .
I would like now to replace this unit I did update prior to trip.
Can anyone recommend a replacement model and the price .
Regards. Roger

I use data for our trips, 9 months in Europe a year. We watch TV via a VPN.
This is much cheaper than a satellite system.
So far no problems with data abroad.
If needed you can buy a local data card.

I think you've done what I did, the title is a bit misleading as I think the OP is asking about sat navs  not watching TV

Google maps on a WiFi receiving iPad. One that takes a SIM card.
It is what I have used for a few years now and so far no problems.

Now fitted a motorhome WiFi system so now navigation can use any WiFi receiving device.

Map Factor Navigator on any Android device (and probably I phone?) Free!
Doesn't need a SIM as works from GPS. Have used it for about 4/5 years all over Europe in our Benimar motorhome, Works well for us.

On the subject of VPN we use Surfshark, which is about £40 a year. Works well most of the time but some websites don't like it. Never been a problem on the iPlayer so far.

Cheers

If you follow this link for 24 months plus 3months free it costs from £45.63 for 27 months

click on 'get surfshark' and it takes you to this page https://surfshark.com/pricing

I went for surfshark one, costs a little more but better features

Depends very much what features you require (and perhaps what you regard as glitches).
I have abandoned dedicated satnavs and use an Android navigation app on an Android head unit that I fitted in place of the old radio/CD unit.
