I've driven hybrids for a number of years and am happy with that, although the Kia tri-fuel that Kev recently referred to might be a useful way forward.
Interested to see that Renault have devised something for extinguishing EV battery fires more effectively and they are making it available to all manufacturers. Apparently it is some sort of disc seal on the EV HV battery itself. The high pressure from a fire hose can remove this seal and allow the normally sealed battery to be flooded with water to stop thermal runaway.
