I can't stop laughing. 🤣

I've driven hybrids for a number of years and am happy with that, although the Kia tri-fuel that Kev recently referred to might be a useful way forward.

I’m sure your motor is fine Tony. My mate and I were discussing EV ownership. Discussing pro’s & con’s, I mentioned this recent MB EQA fire https://www.carscoops.com/2024/11/mercedes-eqa-bursts-into-flames-damages-home-in-process/

Bad enough losing the car, it is the damage to one’s home that is frightening, he then sent me the image I posted above. The kid looks distraught!!

I do wonder why these motors combust? And it is difficult to figure out why, as the EV is melted.
 
Interested to see that Renault have devised something for extinguishing EV battery fires more effectively and they are making it available to all manufacturers. Apparently it is some sort of disc seal on the EV HV battery itself. The high pressure from a fire hose can remove this seal and allow the normally sealed battery to be flooded with water to stop thermal runaway.

Yes. The way he did it was appalling. That is why there are crowds of protesters outside the Tesla showrooms preventing customers entering. :giggle:
