Weird when I add a new tab

so when you type in anything into the browser url bar, does it first go somewhere else (like search-great.com) fleetingly before then coming up with search results from Yaahoo? did you check that?
Yes it does, and goes to Yahoo, it's a minor annoyance I just click on my google bookmark, I've spent more than a full day on it so far and got nowhere, so unless you post an actual cure I'm leaving it alone David.

I decided to try what you did I think, I added duck and bing saved it but when I came out and back in they had both gone leaving it as Yahoo, but labelled as Google.

do the reset link in settings.

click the three dots top corners; go down to "settings"; then in the settings list, down the bottom is an option for "reset settings".
This direct to yahoo may seem like just an annoyance, but there is a potential for a major hijack of your browser and is a security issue.
And this is not limited to Chrome either but could happen on any browser on ANY OS (including crappy Linux as well).

NOTE: this browser hijack is NOT anything yahoo is doing themselves. they are not responsible, it is someone else and they choose to use the yahoo search-engine as a patsy.
