Anyone recommend an obd reader app for Nissan abs?

My abs and traction control lights come on after a while on my 2011 Nissan Note.
The engine management light does not come on.
I've got a Vgate iCar Pro 2S Bluetooth obd reader.
There are loads of apps in the Google play store. Not many mention abs and fewer still mention the Nissan Note.
They all appear to want paying which I don't mind if it can interrogate my abs.

Anyone had personal experience of an abs app?

@rambrose

Most generic cheapskate tools only do engine data, to diagnose other ecus usually requires a more comprehensive tool and/or obd interface.

I personally use a Kingbolen K7 which has comprehensive support for dozens of manufacturers

There are loads of semi professional budget diagnostic tools available like mine, all usually clearly list what ecus and actions they support via the specs readily available online so it a case of shopping around.

Thanks for the reply. Kingbolen K7- ouch. Might have to live with it for a bit longer.

@witzend

The Iveco Daily and original 2E Crafter are particularly annoying vans to get diags for!
The MaxiECU tool is relatively good value and often recommended for the Iveco, its on my maybe list if my Kingbollen turns out to be not up to the job!

Thanks for the replies. I've got an offer to use a snapon reader via a friend of a friend. They have family issues so I'll have to wait a bit.
While I'm waiting I'm going through the apps.
I've got myself mixed up with which ones talk with my car.
I'll go back and note them next time

But you can't beet a main dealer diagnostic

You are 100% correct the downside is the £150-£200 an hour labour charge for them to often a pay a pfy on minimum wage to guess at and then at customer expense fire the parts canon the problem.

I have the manufacturers system for my BMW and am trying to buy similar for my Iveco Daily.

Sadly very few main dealers will actually spend the time it really takes to diagnose faults properly partly through lack of sufficient experience and partly because most customers will not pay for the time it would take.

There are occasional rare exceptions though over four years ago I was quoted a pre agreed labour only cost of £118 for half an hour at a Mercedes van centre to code cruise control on my sprinter god knows what their labour rate would be today!

It actually took them four hours they had to have multiple attempts due to server issues at the Mercedes mothership back end!

When MG Rover and then all the dealers went bust in 2005 I was one of the very few independent people in the country with their T4 diagnostics system, I was kept busy for months especially coding keys!

Just an update. Still waiting for the snap on scanner.
"Car scanner" from the app store gave me a code for the brake pedal switch.
A bit dubious of this as the lights work fine as did getting the gear selector out of park.
Multimeter showed the switch opening and closing. Dismantled it and cleaned the contacts anyway.

So far, touch wood, the abs light has stayed off.
Thanks again for all your comments

@rambrose some of these switches can be double pole, pretty obvious if there are more than two wires in the connectro so can throw up fault codes if either pole is iffy.

Some work opposite to what you might expect i.e they are normally closed until the pedal is depressed.

Some are self calibrating with a plunger that is fully extended when new and gets depressed to the correct position on first use which sets the pedal travel before operating, Sprinters use that type of Switch and I know of at least one owner that was charged silly amounts of money, replacing ABS modules etc for an incorrectly set switch!
The fix was to pull the plunger out to reset the position.....

I used to work large vehicle fleet that had good diagnostics in place but still had to use main dealers to clear some faults.
