What did you do to your van today?

Descaling the water heater, including the pipework to kitchen & bathroom taps, plus the kitchen tap. Would have been done by now, but my mate Kosta arrived mid-morning to use the Henchman Ladders to clean his roof and water the neighbours' gardens and cars ... He needs to serve an apprenticeship, and I need to apologise to the neighbours ... :ROFLMAO:

Now here in Albert on the Somme parked at the railway station for the night. Off to Poziers to visit Sue's Granddad's memorial then off to visit Manchester Hill near St Quentin. Over the next few days we'll potter around the region then visit Monets Garden before working our way over to the British Memorial in Normandy where we have been invited to the remembrance service on the 6th of June and its bloomin ott here
Peter

The British memorial is a very humbling experience, it is also very beautiful how it is laid out, a skilful and well thought design.

I am hoping to visit my Grandads place of rest at the Military Cemetery, Rouen. His aircraft was shot down December 1944.

I need to check to see if cemetery is within the city LEZ zone?

Yes I agree, we were there for the 80th last year, but because my dad was involved in some strange way I have been invited to attend and have been sent wristbands for Sue and I

Enjoy the day, which I am sure you both will. (y)

We visited around this time last year. There is decent motorhome parking for a night or two. No services, so be prepared with an empty cassette!
Try and visit early in the day before the coachloads of Japanese etc arrive. We stayed overnight to be sure.
We bought our tickets online. I checked but cannot find the specific name of the company in my bank account. Anyway it worked fine.
If you do buy online, don't join the main queue for entry. As you face the main entrance turn right, walk to a narrow laneway first on the left and there is an entrance on the left for wheelchairs and pre-booked ticket holders.
My wife is a keen gardener and amateur artist, so she really enjoyed it. I think we were round the house twice and the gardens three times.
Enjoy your visit.

Thank you , my carer too is a keen gardener and we have been to the garden on many occasions and yes the sons of Nippon do arrive almost at sunrise and in convoy too and as now I use a mobility scooter it should be a tad easier to jump the queue and then mow them down as I plough through. Or maybe not, ahh well
Cheers Davy

Filled up with diesel and lpg [first time since returning from Spain in mid-March] in preparation for the trip to Barnoldswick. We had to keep the heating on in March whilst we rebalanced the Leisure Battery,to avoid disrupting the charging during the cold nights so we had burned gas and gone nowhere! Wallet now £116+ lighter ...

We have crossed the anniversary date of the Motorhome purchase [21st Apr] so a new year of costings has begun ... We have driven only 4 miles since the anniversary, and the impact of the 2025/26 Fixed Costs means that the 'cost per mile' is a tad over £2013! Would have been cheaper to hire a limo and had the chauffeur deliver the diesel and lpg in a couple of buckets :ROFLMAO:

Two silly facts that I keep note of in the vans diary, of course they don't really relate to actual costs of running, depreciation etc, but in my simple way they keep me happy.

Recently the mileage passed the cost of the van when new, so it costs me £0.98 per mile now!!

The cost of the van is divided by bed nights and is currently £75, or £37.50 each!

If only it was that simple (and cheap).

Davy

Got the van mods finished new underslung LPG tank fitted and filled, interior rebuilt new vinyl flooring etc etc..got the new foam (24 X 74 ) and matching cloth just got to get the sewing machine out now.Overall a success still have room in the garage bit for2 X 25 ltr water cans( back up for the 100ltr underslung tank) spare cassette,2 full length recliners,2 4'x2' tables,2 ring outdoor hob,2 windbreaks etc (just)..more work but did not want a high bed ( it's around 430 mm )

Bed nights, fully costed over the life of ownership, will be £144.01 after Barnoldswick [first nights since the start of the new year of ownership]. Costs will rise this year because of the need to have a major service and the timing belt + water pump replaced. Nights usage will also be lower because of our 3 changes of property inside the last 12 months and some health problems; fingers crossed, we can cut loose in late Summer and stop the M/home being a very expensive garden ornament :ROFLMAO:

Steve

Topped up the screenwash and cleaned off the seagull crap after I cleaned the M/Home earlier this week ... Loading up food and last minute items, ready for tomorrow. Waiting on Royal Mail delivery of drinking hose extension x 2 to give a 40m max reach to the tank

Steve

Broke it! Engine light stayed on at start up and Manual says it's ignition/emissions fault. Local garage can get M/home on Diagnostics late afternoon, and think it may be a sticky EGR valve or similar after no use for 2 months. Fingers crossed we will be still be able to attend Rolls Royce Leisure Rally, albeit as a 'late arrival at the Ball', tomorrow at the earliest
