There is a Aldi, less than 10 min walk away and there was a butchers in the town centre last time we was there, there is also a couple of butchers in Skipton

Hi Jeff,
M/Home problem! Engine Warning Light stayed on as I started the motor up. Manual says it's an emissions/ignition problem [EGR valve sticking?] but they cannot get me on the diagnostics machine until mid-afternoon at the earliest. Garage hopes it'll be a relatively quick fix, but, at best, we won't arrive until tomorrow now!. I'll keep you posted

When I refilled 2-3 days ago, Jeff, I was shocked to get a 23.78mpg for the old tankful; I hadn't spared the horses on the final leg from West Midlands to Scotland, but probably had less weight on board, and would have expected 26 or 27mpg, so perhaps the problem was developing since mid-March? The Garage Owner was run off his feet, but he did ask if the M/Home had been left for some time, and gave a brief, 'with any luck, it'll be a quick job, but we'll need to get the diagnostics plugged in to get the fault code'

I know that this year will be an expensive one for the M/Home; new timing belt + water pump, major service, new offside mirror with temperature sensor [no adjustment on the long arms -grrr], and probably a new vehicle battery before it starts to weaken. There is also a small stone chip on the windscreen that needs checked [a 'ding' that happened about 80 miles from home on the March 2025 return to Scotland]. This defensive maintenance is more expensive, but the *theory* [that has failed today!] is that getting components replaced in good time should prevent problems from messing up Rally attendances and other trips ... I prefer to just jump in the cab, turn the key, check the gauges for the first 10-15 miles driving, and feel the engine loosen as it hits proper operating temperature, and then relax into the journey. Not this time though!

Question is, who will be more hacked off when the bill arrives? Me or the Bank Manager? Probably the latter - 'Dear Marchie, I am very concerned about your overdraft and that of the UK Government; in that order ... Contact me, please ...'

Big delays on the M6 southbound near salmesbury turn off.A vehicle fire

Hi Jeff,

M/home repaired a few minutes ago, so should be ok to arrive tomorow. Problem was a dead DPF Sensor - the soot and other rubbish gathers in the filter, and when the engine is not used for a while, moisture builds up and makes a paste that then corrodes the terminals and knocks out the Sensor. The Garage Owner tapped the old Sensor on the Reception desk and left a 10p sized circle of sooty water drops, despite the fact that I took the M/Home for a 50 mile blast up and down the dual carriageway between Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy whilst the delivery of the new Sensor was in train!

Hope to arrive mid-afternoon tomorrow for the 4 nights if that's OK?

A big thank you to Jeff and Lorraine ant the other stewards, who made it a great weekend, enjoyed the pie night and the fish night at the social club, Saturday we are at the Barlick Raj Indian, again great food, it was just a shame the chef rung in sick Sunday morning at Rolls Royce social club, but they had the decency to ring me to let me know that the sunday dinners were off.

Luckily I managed to book a table for 10 at The Stone Trough in Kelbrook at such short notice. We had the Sunday lunch platter for two, it had Beef, Lamb, chicken and pork meat on it, plus a host of vegetables, it actually fed three of us and we still couldn't finish it off. Think it was £34.95 highly recommended and great value.

We also enjoyed some of the bands playing in Barlick town Square over the weekend too, just a shame the weather turned on Saturday. Hopefully after I recovered from my operation we will be able to go to more meets later in the year.
