Makers name for this type of hab door lock?

A wee update on the lock situ. Replacement barrel arrived yesterday, quick look at YouTube for fitting detail, looked simple.

Removal key would not fit fubared lock for removal. Apparently if the lock is in the locked position, it cannot be removed using removal tool.

Stripped handle from camper and tripped it down further and with ease having access to a vice now, still no joy to remove barrel. I pretty much gave up and refitted, here’s a thing though, although a fiddle, I can now lock door from outside using key 👍 wait a minute though, it won’t open from outside using key 🤷‍♂️ lol. I didn’t want to force the barrel out, as is, from the outside all looks well to an outsider, along with the lockable swing arm over door device, which helps with external door security, no issue to lock/unlock internally.

I think my best plan is to install a new dead lock either above or below the door handle.

Nowt easy 🤬

Hi Terry,

Sorry to hear of the ongoing problems. Presumably one for a friendly local locksmith near Archigny (the closest may be about 20km away) or at home. The problem with trying to identify a suitable contact in France is that "Serrurier" can mean locksmith but can also mean a metalworker.

Has the existing key got a number on it, if you can unlock from outside then finding the correct extractor key could be the answer. I've had the same issue as the Carthago barrels are not Zadi etc although they look the same. If you post or pm a pic of the key, I can try the firm I used and post it out to you, assuming they can help 😃.

Thanks Tom, look at contacting local dealers at Chateraultt, Poitiers if I really have to.

Sent you key number, Dave. Hopefully original?

First of all, many thanks to all who posted advice on this thread. And a special thank you to Dave aka Val54, who had similar lock experience with his Cathargo, and after I pm Dave my key details, he came up trumps, and with the info Dave provided, I managed to source the part on Amazon FR. And bargain too, the Zadi barrel with x 2 key and 1 x barrel removal key cost €34, which I returned and refund pending. I bought a new complete outer assembly incl x 2 keys, for €64 and €17 of the 64 was carriage.

Assembly now fitted and locking. At least we can now leave the camper knowing door is fully secure, and alarm on.

Thank you, all 🍻

Details for anyone finding themselves in a similar predicament, with same door lock assembly.
