Trying to install new rear brake discs and pads on our motorhome but when I have put everything back together and tightened the last 2 bolts, it has locked the disc. Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong? Have done both front ones and they are ok.
Thanks Andy

Have you.left.the.hand brake on??
Hand brake was off and adjusted not to catch, it only locks up when I tighten up the last bolt and slider. Taken it apart and cleaned it all back up again, but just jams back up and disc won’t turn. Very frustrating, must be doing something daft!

Sounds like you need to wind the pistons in a bit with the brake winding in tool

No winding involved. Just press with a clamp. Be sure to remove the guide pins and lubricating then and check they move freely. Replace the little rubber boots on them otherwise they don't release totally and heat up during driving. Had this happen to me on my 2015 Jumper that uses the same system

The rear ones have to be wound in, your referring to the front brakes
Nope. On my van, the disc brake caliper is similar to the front one and the handbrake works with a pair of drum shoes. The winding type use the disc pad as handbrake actuator on smaller vehicles with rear disc brakes. My van is a 3,5 ton one with 150 HP

On a few cars i have serviced over the years the same has happened, if you drive it a mile or two hammering the brakes the pads settle down, one one car i had to buff the pad with a flat grinder to take about 10th of to get the bu--ers in, this happens with copy parts sometimes.

Was just one of the sliders (guide pins) seized. Pushed the pin out, emeried, cleaned, greased and put back in, now all working OK. Took me a day to mull it over and finally the penny dropped! All ok now and ready to take the granddaughters away next weekend ;-) Thank you for all of your help and comments.
