Ongoing hab door lock issue.

Today I decided to strip hab door as there was loose things in it and also to change lock as the red removal key wouldn't work on hab lock.
While in there I also investigated the auto door lock not working.
I removed solenoid and tested on battery, its 2 wire and reverses polarity to lock or unlock the lock mechanism , which it worked perfectly on a battery.
So now I know the solenoid is working and there is no broken wires, does anyone know if this is meant to be linked into the cab remote locking or would it of had a seperate fob with its own remote receiver module for the hab side?
There was no extra fob when I bought moho last year.
It's a swift / ace airstream based on a 2007 Fiat Ducato platform.
Thanks Alistair.

Maybe ask the seller if it needs a fob (unlikely) is part of the central locking.

They wont know, it was a van dealer who took it as a trade in, they dont deal in motorhomes and this was a one off.
I bought it trade and cheap.

Still worth asking as they will have the sellers info, the give them your number, not you his, I've had to do this a couple of times, but I tend go and to talk to the person rather than ring them.

So it turns out my hab door remote operates by a different button on remote or has a seperate fob altogether which I have neither, someone at some point must of lost or broken it.
I've asked a few dealers online who have identical vans for sale.
Not sure if this part of van would be swift or fiat as its independent of cab remote locking, so again dont know who to get a fob from or how to get fob programmed if I managed to get the fob.
Its a 07 plated Ace Airstream built by Swift, Ace went defunked yrs ago but are basically a rebadged Swift Belero, however its still pretty old to be getting parts like this for.

My motorhome had central locking fitted when I bought it. It didn't have a remote control: it simply locked or unlocked all the doors when you locked or unlocked one of them. This was not standard: it was one of the many aftermarket bits that had been added: the only one I actively didn't want.
The first thing I did was to disable that abomination. Why would I want the boot unlocked if I open the habitation door?
The mechanisms are all still there, but they no longer do anything.

Yes, it does matter. On the road, parked in a layby, or even if on a campsite, I keep the habitation door unlocked and the other doors all locked. I don't want someone sneaking round the other side and getting in.

Yes, driving with the doors locked makes sense (though we always unlock.the security deadlocks before driving).
Most of the time we are not driving, though. The bulk of our motorhome time is parked up somewhere.
Then we want the hab door possibly unlocked and all.the other doors locked.

Unless we're not in the van, it stays locked, too many scrotes could hop in and take whatever is on view, while we're on the other side of the van.

I always press the lock button on the dash whenever we get in the van.
Problem is the only way atm to lock / unlock hab is with key or push / pull the manual button on inside of hab door, it is seperate to any other function as I dont have the fob.
I would prefer to be able to open / lock it remotely when required.

Why don't you search online for an answer and a solution?

I have just searched using 'Swift motorhome habitation door lock fob'. There are lots of replies.

As my Granny always said, "The Lord helps them that helps themselves".

That's the 1st thing I did, theres nothing absolutely relevant to Ace Airstream which was manufactured by Swift at Swift factory.
Praise ye the Lord. 🙌

Perhaps they're very similar to keep costs down.
This could well be and probably is the case, however I can find anything to suggest this either way.
My next step will be to physically find someone either nearby or by coincidence on a camp site and ask to look at there key fob and how the lock/unlock system operates.

There is a haystack just up the road from me.
I've definitely a needle for that.
There is someone on here who I asked a while back but theres was in Englandshire and 3 yrs newer than mine with what looks like a different hab door. It seems Swift / Ace / and other offshoots of Swift change and chop everything through production with whatever they can get they're hands on cheaply.

Your hab door has a solenoid fitted which will be linked to the cab door lock/unlock circuit. Your solenoid works off a battery, so check the supply to it when it is in situ. Check that the door is closing properly and the door contacts are properly close/aligned.
