Morrisons LPG REFUSE TO FILL

As a last resort 2 weeks ago went to Morrisons to fill my safefill bottle "not allowed" came the reply. I believe safefill have gone bust so it could be an insurance agreement they had which is no longer. I fitted an external filling point with the other end onto the empty bottle, simple everyone is happy

Safefill / safefil was dissolved on 25th March according to companies house. There are still loads of bottles for sale on fleabayh and amazon
 
The Safefill bottle I had was bigger than the equivalent Calor bottle. To get it in to the gas locker I had to saw a bit off the plastic carrying handle of the Safefill bottle, whereas a Calor bottle of the same capacity would go in. Anyway its a pity they have gone bust. It just shows how important good management skills are in business. There are plenty of Gaslow, and Gasit bottles. Gaslow seems to have lots of advertising and presence in dealers and magazines where Gasit doesn't.

Today I spoke with the MD of Installoil, where I purchase and top up with gas my Safefill cylinders. Caroline stated she had heard similar and contacted Safefill company, to be told the company is still trading.
 
The problem is the idiots who refilled Calor bottles with eBay adapters. Really, really dangerous because you can't ensure enough ullage.

You can't expect petrol station staff to be able to distinguish between a refillable and a non-refillable by looking across the forecourt, so it makes some sense to ban filling any bottle.

However, Morrisons seem keen not to sell LPG at all, judging by their recent pricing strategy.

Filling a tank is fine at Morrisons. But 99p per litre in Barnsley. It's 87p at Darnall

Not familiar with the geography, Kev, but we try to fill en route to our next stop, so the extra mileage is usually negligible. Local Morrisons is the exception, being about 2 miles away, so would have filled up the night before and then headed for the M90 South
