Spain Winter Sun 2025/26

Arrived at Santander at 0700 to heavy mist and rain and breezy conditions. Headed to Miranda D'Ebro because that was forecast to be dry'ish. Parked on Leclerc designated M/Home bays (another dozen or so vans parked in the adjoining car park long bays) with fresh water, black waste and grey water disposal. EHU is chargeable, otherwise free stay. Plenoil 100m back from the airer, with diesel at 1.359€ per litre, a fair bit cheaper than UK £1.459 per litre prices ...
Heading towards Zaragoza tomorrow in pursuit of dry and warm weather.

It's Constitution Day today, and Monday is the IVF Public Holiday of the Innoculate Conception, so we'll probably sit tight and move when everything opens up again. Lithium did peak at 14.23v in the afternoon sun, and now 13.3v and drip charging the Vehicle Battery, via the Ablemail AMT12-2-6, to about 13.1v. All fresh fruit and veg reduced to get stock cleared for Public Holiday, including 2.6kg Melon for 3€, so we have enough stock to open a market stall. And weather should be bright and dry tomorrow - woohoo!

When my son lived in Valencia he wondered why they were all celebrating his dad's birthday.
Strangely big Catholic holiday in mainland Europe but not in one of the most fundamental (as was) Catholic countries , Ireland

Despite the reduced exchange rate compared with our Jan 2025 trip, the Sterling price for diesel yesterday in Miranda D'Ebro was a little over 27 pence cheaper than the cheapest UK diesel price we saw. My 50.00 Litres at Asda Oldbury [J2 M5 South slip road] would have been £13.02 less expensive ...

Plenoil is usually within a 4 cents variation in Northern and Southern Spain (Miranda De Ebro and Antequera) as 2 examples I recall. Their pricing seems more to do with what local Filling Stations are charging, so at Olivanza in January 2025, Plenoil were 4 or 5c more expensive than their Antequera site, but about 3c cheaper than the Supermarket pumps at Mercadona.

Yesterday, Plenoil at Miranda (300m from Leclerc Hypermarket) were 1.359€ per litre, with Leclerc (with more difficult access to non-height restricted pumps) charging 1.36€. And Plenoil have attended service and easy forecourt access/egress.

Unfortunately they don't have LPG, and the local Repsol pump requires a 1km up and down dual carriageway trip and then a nose first descent onto a narrow passage, followed by a slow reverse back up to ground level, whilst cars and vans needing fuel whistle across the reversing area with gay abandon ...

Best to check the tensile strength of your bike clips before arrival (and we're only 5.99m plus bike rack! Think larger Vans would probably try elsewhere ...)
