What did you do to your van today?

Finished of the charging system, with a ignition switch wire fitted to the dc to dc charger works perfic now ..cambelt done ,now off for some rock and roll .
Wicksteed park alldayer tomorrow..beer packed.
My mother was born within walking distance of Wicksteed Park [London Road?], so we spent many a happy Summer Sunday visiting, mainly because the rides were mainly free! We were allowed a '2 from 3' choice of the chargeable rides - steam train [Lady of the Lake], the Helter Skelter or the Water Splash. And, in the height of Summer, when we could stay up late, we would call round to Uncle Sid and Aunt Edna for a 'bit of tea'!

My last visit was almost 60 years ago, but I still have vivid memories of a 'Wickies Weekend' :ROFLMAO:

Took the smallest cushion and an offcut of the cabinetry to the upholsterer for a final clour check before committing to the reupholstery. Waiting for the invoice for the leather [5 or 6 skins] which we will have to pay at the time of order - I suspect that the foam and other materials could be used in general upholstery work should we cancel, but the leather is specific to our order, so fair enough

Then back to playing with the new battery and solar - cooked the porridge on it again yesterday and today. Yesterday was very dull, and bitterly cold, so didn't bother with using the portable Panel. Despite the dreich skies, the battery recovered to 100% and almost hit Float, so a useful test of its capability when the solar harvest is poor

I spent a happy and educational day at David's (Wildebus) in the Borders getting done phase1 of a 2 phase upgrade. Yesterday we installed (well David installed, I handed him the tools) this little B2B beauty. That was the easy bit. Squeezing under the van to route the very chunky cable from the engine battery to the 2x leisures at the rear was a bit more gruelling, (mainly for David, I have to say).
Now I also have a lovely Victron Battery monitor that tells me everything I need to know and more about the state of my batteries etc.
A slimline 200w Flexi solar will fit sugly on the remaining roof space at the front, to add to existing solar. That'll be phase two shortly. Many thanks to David for his expertise, his seemingly endless patience with the mess of coloured spaghetti that lurks under every cover, and for his good company.IMG_20260331_105608503.jpgIMG-20260330-WA0001.jpeg

Your assistance was very much appreciated (y)

PS, In case anyone looks at that picture and thinks "that isn't very chunky cable?", this was the downsized cable from a close fusebox. And the other side of the fusebox was where the nice fat 35mm2 cable from the starter battery came in (possibly oversized for a 50A charger, but used due to long cable run and it will mean near enough zero voltage loss and so give as efficient charge as possible).

Looks very similar to the interior of our M/Home on 9th March as David & Rae [Street Sleeper] installed the new battery, orion B2B, 120w extra roff solar panel, and the cabling for the new 100w portable solar panel ...

Headed out for the weekend only to discover the heating elements were on their way out. Hot water was only look warm after 4 hrs heating in the van bearable everything OK with gas. Removed the Truma which was a task 1.5 hrs then trying to remove the elements became another touretts moment. Ended up making an attachment for a sliding hammer to draw the elements out. New elements will be here in the next day or so.20260331_120556.jpg20260331_120601.jpg
