There are back street metal bashers [well, not in posh computerised workshops with white coated Technicians] in UK who can still make these parts, but they have to abide by H&S Rules, pay decent wages, respect Patents etc, so such Parts are not cheap. China has no compunction in ignoring such niceties, so can ship them to UK at the proverbial sixpence per dozen, and everyone who buys from Temu, AliExpress et al supports this [mal]practice, until UK has the square root of damn all skilled workers left
I just bought a plastic bolt for the sunroof support and a microswitch for the bathroom tap from the local Caravan Dealer at £34.50, instead of £7.40 for 10 +P&P and £3.83 +P&P respectively. But, [a] I could see the parts and measure, and I want the Dealer to stay in business, so that I can get spares 1 mile from home, rather than 1/2 way across the world, and he needs to charge enough to cover his overheads and turn a profit
