EU Pet Passports, Good News

This was taken from Brittany ferry's website, 5/6/2026
If you binned your EU pet passport, go and get it before the dustbin men come 👍
Just looked up DFDS site [very quickly] and can't see previous AHC only statement . Hopefully check this out quite soon . I do understand people getting an AHC just in case but I had no intention of doing that . It would upset my petty , tight-fisted , curmudgeonly persona too much

You can no longer use a pet passport issued in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland) to enter the EU.

The passport must have been issued in one of the following places:

Send them a link to the Brittany ferry's website and ask why they are not adhering to the same regulations

It appears to us, having trawled through all the relevant sites, GOV.UK, DAERA, APHA etc etc, that return travel from an EU country to GB with a Pet Passport issued before 22/04/26 is still OK.
BUT,
"If you live in England, Scotland or Wales you "SHOULD" not use a pet passport (even if issued in the EU) from GB to EU......your pet "MAY" be refused entry in to the EU"

Still as clear as mud.🤔

Brittany Ferries seem to have interpreted these rules differently.........🤷‍♂️

AMBIGUOUS, WHAT!😀

Any thoughts.......

As I said DFDS have changed their wording re pet travel . Fully intend to check this out in the next week or so

APHA is an executive agency sponsored by DEFRA a BRITISH goverment department not the european country we are all trying to enter it is APHA who have muddied the water and confused the issue both france and spain have stated they will accept current passports

So.......if France and Spain say they will accept current passports do we need AHC'S to leave GB?

Still confused🫩

I have one as a backup!
Tunnel booked for 21st but don’t want turning away

I see Irish ferries are still quoting the AHC ruling .
They may be the only ones

Looks like Irish ferries couldn’t care less more than one traveler not asked for AHC suppose it depends on the member of staff at the time but looks like most can’t be bothered checking

This is news for people who travel with their pets often. The extra paperwork and costs have been a hassle since the new rules started. Anything that helps us travel together is a thing. I love that my dog can come with us on trips now. I'm glad pets can travel with us.
I don't think there is a problem . Just travelled with Brittany ferries . Passport fine .
Normally travel with DFDS and contacted them when this 'scare' started . They were adamant the passports were no longer viable . Then , a few weeks ago , their website changed and they were saying passports are ok
