Upgrading my solar.

I am going to be upgrading the solar on my motorhome and making a YouTube video showing the whole process.

The plan is to remove the three 175 watt panels and replace them with three 330 watt panels. This will increase my solar from 525 watts to 990 watts. This will also mean replacing the Victron 50 amp MPPT solar controller with a 100 amp version.

By installing this upgrade I will have better winter solar yield and power in the summer to run my fridge and water heater on electric.

Eventually, I am hoping to get a deal from a battery company and increase my battery bank to 1000 Ah of Lithium batteries.

Removing and installing this much solar should make a great video for people to watch.

Seeing the work might be interesting...
But the overall solution with so much solar power and so much battery power will be of little interest to me and I suggest most.

Even ignoring the installation costs (which you will be doing) do you have estimates for the cost of
3 x 300Watt Panels
The lithium battery bank
A suitable inverter
The Victron controller

Not wishing to be negative ! BUT ........Often an opposing view is often beneficial

And I thought I was over the top with 260w of panels and two leisure (105Ah) wet cell batteries.
I do not have the demand you require though. :)

My van already has a 3KVA Victron inverter charger installed.

The solar upgrade will cost me about £1500 minus the sale of the used parts that I remove.

The batteries... I have no idea, but we will see what deals I can negotiate.

I already have 630Ah of batteries (at 8 hour discharge rate, but they are closer to 990Ah at 100 hour discharge rate). The lithium upgrade would give me back 180 kg of payload.

Aw I wanna watch. ?
Unfortunately, because I do some work on some peoples motorhomes, others believe that I have to do work on their motorhomes. So I am no longer doing work on members vans at meets. I have a couple of jobs to finish like Streetsleepers (who is always there to help me), but then if I decide to do work it will be in my private time.

I actually expected you to say go buy a Timex then. ?

Phil, if I upgrade my panel to one of the Panasonic 245W panels, would your old Victron be a suitable controller for me to buy? I know I'd have to upgrade the controller anyway but would yours be suitable?

Phils can take a lot more than 245W being a 100/50. I have a 100/30 and that takes upto 440W if I recall right. Either would be nice with a 245W :)
Phil, is yours a Blue Solar or SmartSolar 100/50?
