We have a fridge freezer in our MH which I wouldn't be without...... what do those of you that only have a fridge do in the hot climate when you are away for any length of time...... do you use a freezer box (That's what we used to do when we only had a fridge) or go shopping every other day for your fresh food

I have what is referred to as an "ice box" within my Fridge - that keeps ice lollys and the like frozen. not sure about gas fridges, but most compressor Fridge-Freezers draw nearly twice the power as a good compressor Fridge, so a big power hit for anyone not plugging in daily I would say.

I've got the standard 3-way fridge with a freezer compartment and I tend to cook at home and take frozen portions of chilli, chicken curry, spag bol, etc with me, then shop when I need to. Officially, I know you're not supposed to freeze stuff in the top - it's just meant for maintenance of things already frozen - but my fridge is an over-enthusiastic workaholic and even freezes stuff on the top shelf if I'm not careful, like my breakfast fruit! I honestly don't think I'd be in any danger if I were to put fresh stuff in there to freeze.

Ha Ha Jennie, if I don't keep an eye on thermostat we freeze stuff in bottom of the fridge where Caz turns it up without realising it. First time I got milk out for her brew and it was solid, that was in the hot weather as well :)

Only a couple of times has it been so hot that our freezer has not frozen stuff.

I batch cook soups for lunch and casserole/stews. Bag up in Tupperware pots ... cool ... into fridge ... then into the freezer. Once frozen, I remover and recycle the Tupperware and my frozen food is the shape of a brick for stacking in the freezer ... I can get so much more in.

I hate shopping (unless it is outdoor/camping shops) so need to be able to freeze.

Jeff has fitted 2 extra fans on the fridge/freezer when we visit France, he just plug's them in during the day and unplug's them at night, because we were experiencing the same not freezing....... works a treat no more unfrozen food
