Toilet chemicals.... again

Just wind? There’s no way I’m putting you on my shoulder and rubbing your back ?
I’m getting better at doing that with the gorgeous Millie ?

As above, using a dilution of Zaflora as air freshener. Spray bottle. I’m not alone doing this.
Hi thanks for this and all threads. Is it zaflora Or zoflora Went to buy some to try. Could not find it. Also using bio. Is this the standard bio wash powder. Or liquid. Thanks again. All very interesting

Just been reading the latest MMM. There is a letter asking about using soap in the toilet, so MMM asked Thetford and Dometic and guess what they said !

Has anyone had issues with seals going ? I always let the liquid soap dribble over the valve to lubricate it. I suspect replacing the seals every few years is cheaper than paying for their chemicals.

As for the smell I agree with the letter writer that the soap smells better, and the contents of the toilet smell better than the chemicals.

We love our SOG system, the whole point being it draws any smells away from inside the van. The only time to think about the smell is when emptying it. A wooden peg is quite cheap!

Re Zoflora, other scents are available I misspelt it. Hope this helps.
As for bio, I use the cheapest own brand washing tablets I can find. I get 10% staff discount on the Morrisons ones, so I use them . Every expense spared.

We had a SOG fitted into our motorhome by the makers when it was built. That was in 2005. 18 months ago we sold the motorhome and never had to replace any seals.

We do however use a Thetford spray to lubricate the seal occasionally.

SOG. Fine,as long as you’re not parked next door to one. If you can, stay up wind.
Oh! And don’t leave your own toilet window open. That’s what is meant by,getting your own back.

Do not think I will bother referbiishing a cassette when you can get a new one for about £100 ( after 4 years is about 7p a day )

It is only 7p a day if you use it 365 days a year. I bought a spare one for about £25 a few years ago. It wasn't new, but it was spotlessly clean.
It has stayed that way, because I add a sachet of bio laundry liquid each time it has been emptied.
I'd not let it get into the state that the one in the video has reached, but even so, cleaning it up is no worse than changing a baby's nappy.

I have been using Morrisons basic range bio powder for years. Works a treat and the cassettes are great. I do try to leave a full one for at least a day to liquify the contents. Last time I met anyone emptying a SOG I had to evacuate for a time until the stench wafted away. Don't know what they had been eating. Skunk backsides, maybe.

Nothing to stop people using a SOG and adding bio washing powder or liquid. That's what I do.

I've been using bio tabs and gel for a good few years now but was told recently that bio shouldn't be used as it's bad for sewage treatment. I know it kills septic tanks but now I'm totally confused about cess pits and the normal sewage route. Just to add to the confusion, I've also read that normal laundry soap has been proven to be bad for our waterways and fish. All the companies will have their own axe to grind, so how do we get to the truth? At the moment, I console myself that none of the stuff I use can be as bad as the evil blue :devilish:

Oh and I'm also addicted to the smell of Zoflora... cheap enough anywhere but you can sometimes get the bigger bottles in the pound shops.
