Our new little van

Really nice job St3v3 but I have a concern about the open flued boiler in the bedroom, these appliances should not be fitted in a bedroom or bathroom, anywhere else but with adequate ventilation.

John.

Thanks John. The cupboard will be built around it (separate to wardrobe) and sealed as best as I can. There is a vent in the floor that meets the requirements in the instructions and I'll fit a CO alarm.

Does that sound ok? Would you put the alarm in the cupboard or bedroom?

Also, realistically, it's not going to be in use when he's asleep.

Cheers.

And don,t forget as a hgv motorcaravan over 3.5t road tax comes in at £165 ?Very reasonable.

A big thumbs up for another self builder, and a crackin good job as well. Now if you had the truck done profesionally, the bill would have been eye watering, your wallet would have gone into melt down, and you wouldn't have got just exactly what you want! Cheers. (y)

Prompted by Rae's thread where he's re-use some wood, as I've done a bit of the same I thought I'd list the not full price stuff we've used:

Kitchen units from eBay, that came with the integrated fridge. Most of the carcasses have been cut about to suit.

Solar panels off Phil's van. ( just don't tell him lol )

Nigel Brown used old furniture and all sorts to make the table. Also bought the toilet access door from him, I think this is at least the 3rd vehicle it's been on :)

Kitchen worktop - cheap from one of the trade places I use as it was damaged on both ends. I just had to cut it a couple of times more than necessary.

Curtains, eBay and a mate trimmed/added/bodged to make the two for the kitchen.

Carpet - offcut from eBay and some (new offcut) from the skip at a supplier.

Vinyl floor - another supplier essentially gave me this when I told him why I was building the truck.

Shelf above sink - part of an old table that came with the truck.

Mattress - never used, but second hand from eBay.

Lights that would have been binned re-used under kitchen wall cabinets.

One of the big doors came from a job where I replaced some doors for someone.

Tv in Tommy's room - out of his home bedroom as it was too small for him to see and he got a new one for Christmas. Our tv is out of the old van.

I'm sure there is more lol.

I thought I recognised that amazing table and guessed that there couldn't possibly be two of a kind.

Well done to both you and Nigel Brown! Looking forward to more photos as the build continues.

It's all coming together nicely Steve, well done, looking good.

Looks like the cooker grew there Steve ;) You're doing such a great job and I've spotted lots of progress even since the New Year party.
Tommy's going to be a very happy camper and you know I think you're all total stars

Try Leisureshopdirect.com I've had spares off them for my ancient Truma fire, and if they don't have anything, maybe they can point you in the right direction. Good luck. :coffee:

Thanks, the jets came with the cooker, I just can't find where on the cooker they are so that I can change them.

looks great only concern would be curtains above a gas hob ?? i appreciate prob no intention of cooking while drawn but a blind may be better i can see the cover which would form an upstanding but my M i L had one overheat because she left a jam saucepan on a back gas and it exploded everywhere,
