Prostate Cancer

Had same, worst part by far was the catheter, had it in for 2 weeks, one of the best days of my life having it removed, took me 6 months to be dry, I still have a few dribbles first thing in the morning other than that all good apart from the old man a bit lifeless, got a pump & the blue pill but nothing yet, you must do your pelvic floor exercises every day, a good one is to stop peeing mid flow and hold for 10 seconds, I've been told I must do them for the rest of my life,

I am grateful that my GP & Urologist were on the ball (sorry) for me, apart from minor issues with the radiotherapy side effects, and the nighttime walks, I've not had anything serious to complain about. The Relugolix side effects are not so good, extreme tiredness, muscle loss and joint pain.

The hospital doctor has put me on some tabs to relax my bladder and stop me going to loo so often don't think they are work though. .

I used to be on Alfufosin 1g once a day, then they switched it to 1 x 0.25mg three times a day, now I'm on 1 x 1g Tamsulosin with my tea to help at night, I was on three a day after the radiotherapy as it stopped up the water works and was quite painful, I buprofen helped with that.

Diognosed around 4 months ago, have had a hormone implant for nearly three months, This coming Wednesday I am having a brachytherapy operation, the start of around six weeks of continuous treatment, Hey Ho.

Two implants. That may be a more productive treatment, I don't know anyone who's had it though.
Since having the initial blood test that indicated I have a high PSA reading of 19.9 it’s been in and out of hospital appointments. The consultant indicated brachatheropy may well be the way to go, it seems that this procedure is not offered to all with prostrate issues. I understand that out of the 23 samples taken some were at the edge of the prostrate. They intend to reduce the chance of spreading by the brachatheropy treatment.
.
The hormone implant is near to its first three months use, last scan showed 20% reduction in size of the cancer cells.
September 4th is the date for replacement second hormone implant.

I’m on prostap. It was on and off 6 months at a time. But since PSA was rising quickly whilst off, I’ve been on it full time now. Has anybody had experience of rapid weight gain round the waist on hormone treatment? Mine’s been expanding rapidly since going full time, yet nothing else has changed by way of diet, drinking, exercise etc.

I'm on Relugolix, lost loads of muscle mass, but not much weight, but I am getting a lot of pain in all my joints.

The oncologist is ringing me tomorrow morning.

Oncology just rang, my PSA from July is undetectable, I'm to come off the hormone as of now, and to have PSA test every 6 months.

Hopefully, the joint pain will slowly subside.

I'm sure we're all hoping for a large reduction Trev.
Arrived for brachatheropy operation yesterday, Not mentally prepared for it as upon arrival noted eight in the theatre five being doctors , a tad overwhelming. Went into theatre just before 9am came out just before 3pm. Apparently was out for just around five hours. Unfortunately treatment was a failure due to surgeons unable to connect HDR channels.
.
Were advised that the procedure was aborted after 5 hours as size of prostrate had decreased due to the hormone implant, hence the 20 plus probes could not join correctly in the cancers. As I was the 13th or 14th to receive this procedure they now know that a reduced prostrate size is unlikely to have a high dose gamma treatment. Left hospital around 2-30 this afternoon,
.
Now having increased intensity RT doses soon. This was a most uncomfortable procedure after the event due to double the time in theatre. Laid down legs up in one position for five hours stiffened up near all my joints, it took near on a day to feel comfortable.
