Bush fires in Northern Portugal and Spain

There has been a large fire at Druridge Bay apparently. It seems to have been mainly near the dunes, I don't know if the Country Park was affected. Someone has said that there were 4 motorhomes parked in the area where it started and they are getting the blame by some people.

There are currently only 6 fires north of Lisbon. All small and separate.
I would imagine it's much the same over in Spain
Fewer fires mean more resources to extinguish them.

Only 4 bush fires in the whole of Portugal, this morning

All separate and north of Lisbon.
Just local TV making a drama to keep us watching the adverts.

Only 2 live bush fires showing on fogos.pt
Castelo Branco and Cuidad Rodrigo.

Red for burning.
Green for extinguished, under supervision.
Orange for new reports, under investigation.
Grey. Safe.
Situation may be similar, across the border, in Spain

Just 3 small, fires in the forested hills near Viseu, north of Coimbra.

Only one small fire, between Braga and Aveiro.

The government is paying compensation to the affected landowners, next week.

It makes me suspicious about how these remote locations suddenly burst into flames.
Why wait years for the pine and eucalyptus, ( an explosive mix), to mature enough to cut them down, as a cash crop ?
Money today, or logs tomorrow.?
I think the fire season will end with the onset of rain.

We did not get the thunderstorms that were supposed to happen and it is bone dry here in northern Spain, and with temperatures up in the 30s again for this weekend, let's hope three is not another breakout just as things were getting under control

I spoke too soon.
Down here in the Algarve, there are strong Northerly winds, veering all round the compass.
It's hard to make any predictions.
There's a lot of clouds coming from the N. and N.E.

These fires messed up my summer holidays this year. Had planned to finish our EN2 tour that we started 2 years ago in Faro and paused in Mora, but to risk driving into a fire zone or driving for miles through desolaten land, changed the plans to beach holidays. We did drive last Sunday to Oliveira do Hospital to visit some old age relatives that we've not seen in a while and had to drive through some burnt hills. It's heartbreaking to see everything black. We are back home now after 1200 km. Monday we're back to work 🥺
