2 rings on hob in MH not staying on

Two of the rings on the hob in the MH are not staying on when lit. The gas comes through to them fine and they ignite as well. They can be turned down but when I release the knob they do not stay on.

The gas is coming through fine and the clicker is working fine as well as one ring still works 100%.

I don't have the make/model of the hob to hand but its a standard fit on a 2017 Auto trail coachbuilt.

Any ideas? Is it a DIY fix or more?

Sounds to me like problems with the flame failure devices (FFDs) for those rings. If you look closely at each ring, you should see a probe that the flame 'washes' over when the ring is lit. Sometimes the clamp holding the FFD can fail or the FFD otherwise be moved so that it no longer sits in the flame. If the flame 'washes' over the FFD, then it's likely the FFD itself is now duff. Hopefully, that will help you diagnose further but I'm not a specialist, so no guarantees...

a quick check on positioning of the ffd is if it lights with a kettle or saucepan on the fret directing the heat down ! if so it is a case of repositioning it if not then as above it’s duff

If not the flame failure detector, it could be the knob itself that has the problem. Forget now where I read it or the exact details, but something therein sticks and prevents it from maintaining gas flow when released. The (temporary) solution is to tap it sharply a few times (while turned off). I do so both vertically and as close to horizontally as is feasible.

It is a simple job to replace the ffd. You can get universal ones off flebay quite cheaply.

I was having a bit of a similar issue, and what it entailed was really only a good clean of the burners. It’s like they grew a bit of a coating over the years and that was stopping them from staying lit. It’s always a bit if a shock, having something not working and especially when we’ve not been taught what to do - it always seems expensive and fortunately after a brief clean up soon sorted.

I'll also add, mine stopped working but all was perfect - perfect flame, clean, and the themocouple fixed. I fiddled underneath and did no more than move some of the wires and stop some bits touching. Hey presto worked. Asked elsewhere and the same happened to someone else. No explanation why - maybe something was shorting and stopping the current from thermocouple? Who knows, but worth a fiddle
