Went out in the Motorhome to England (essential shopping trip! Shops we needed are closer in England than the ones in Scotland).

Money back on a crappy Pressure Washer from Argos. Argos @Sainsburys had previously refused to do a refund as it had been opened, so had to wait until the PROPER Argos was open again in Berwick to get a refund processed. Lesson to be learnt ... NEVER EVER buy from/return to Argos Sainsburys (and potentially Argos as all). :cautious:

Then to Morrisons for the food shopping and a couple of 'meal deals'.
Sometimes it is the little things that make a difference .... the simple pleasure of being able to go to the Salad Counter again and fill up a plastic container of various bits & pieces to have for lunch was great. Really made me think life is starting to get back to normal :)

Then away to the beach for a wander around and a paddle in the seas (not me, the OH. I'm too wimpy for the North Sea in April!). Might have been a cold day but beautiful clear blue skys were fantastic and even the contrails of a big jet going over from the east was good to see as a sign of impending normality.

And what else is there to do when you are at the beach but have a '99'? a hot day or a freezing day, it does not matter, an Ice Cream cone is obligatory.

Then a drive home. To prepare for our trip out, took some bottled water to flush the loo with as couldn't get the water pump going again after tank draindown over winter so had to leave it for another time :(
Tried after getting home (thinking maybe driving around and water sloshing about might make a difference?) and Eureka! bit more pump running and pipe loosening off to get rid of air bubbles and this time it worked.

Could it get better? :D

Good stuff, glad to hear you had a nice day David. I find using the van for popping out on a nice day is a great way to lift the mood too.

Using it for essential shopping trips was also a good way to give the van a little run out every 3 weeks or so during lockdown. Our usual supermarket (or should I say Mrs. AllanD's usual one, she banned me from grocery shopping 40 years ago 😄) is only 1/2 a mile away so if there is only a quick top-up shop needed we'll both go to a different one via a nearby dual carriageway (the long way around) to do it some good.

Also like your water container idea, I do that too rather than fill the tank only to drain it down again when home. It's a great way to use it as a day van when driving off for a picnic lunch somewhere or visiting National Trust properties. Like you said, it does feel like life is starting to get back to normal now that we are allowed to do that sort of thing again.

Hi,
We were initially going to go a little further afield down to Banburgh Castle after the shopping (one reason for taking the van was to put the food in the fridge & freezer) but decided to stay local (and pretty well within the [sensible] rules). And the beach at Berwick is actually a lovely beach to visit anyway.
Probably head down Banburgh way next week when the border has 'reopened' for leisure purposes and make it an overnighter :)

You should have stayed out David, once you were in England you were okay 😂😂
