Acsi card

We have used acsi a lot when wintering abroad, does save you money but mostly off season. We have also used "Camping-Car-Park" as open all year and the water is always on unlike a lot of free Aires. We like the convenience of topping the card up online then waving it at the barrier knowing there's ehu and wifi when we arrive. We think the charges (9 to 12 euro) are quite reasonable (especially for France !!) Yes, they have taken over some Aires but also some defunct campsites. Some are in great locations but some are in the middle of nowhere...so do research first. Actually, it can be quite entertaining just watching people trying to access them !! Maja

In some countries all sorts of dodgy extra charges such as local tax, bin tax, environment tax, booking fee (for the privilege of booking in even when you’ve just turned up) get added on on top of the acsi rate. Croatia for example is particularly bad for these. If you don’t want the services such as electricity and showers which are included in Acsi rate then it’s worth checking the sites normal non-acsi rate as sometimes it will be cheaper.
