Earth toilet, ours was a double hole, one large hole and one small hole and torn up newspapers on a string hung on the nail in the wall, take a candle on dark nights.
I think this what some people refer to as the good old days
 
same shop, two things
1) being sent as an 8 year old to buy your mums cigarettes

We used to jump over the wall at the back of a pub, grab a couple of empty brown bottles and get thruppence for them in the pub. ?

I cannot deny sometimes we went into the back yard of the shop (he didn't lock the side gate), picked up a few bottles and carried them round the front of the shop for another desposit! :censored:
I guess that would be an early variation of re-recycling :sneaky:
