Anyone been?

We are thinking of popping there on the tram sometime in the next few days just for a bimble around and some lunch.

It is a very nice place to visit for a couple of hours by the tram. To me it typifies the the Spanish coastal towns along the Costa Blanca. Wide beach side boulevard with the usual bars and cafe's. A visit to the Valor cafe is highly recommended, the churros and chocolate are to die for. Further back from the beach a wide selection of shops for both tourist and locals.

Talking of chocolate, if you get the chance go visit the Valor factory in Villajoyosa. Just a 5 minute walk from the tram stop at Crueta.

Climb the steps up to the blue domed church, it is amazing. The inside is just so beautiful and you have lovely views across the town and coast. Also plenty of cafe's and restuarants.

Thanks - we may well take the tram there on Monday to have a mooch around.

Mrs GMJ doesn't fancy the chocolate factory as we visited the Chocolate Story in York last summer, so she is all chocolated out!

Is the church you mention in Altea not Villajoyosa?

'I've eaten too much chocolate' is a redundant expression; and the resealable chocolate wrapper is definitely a solution looking for a problem, says the man who started at one end of a box of After Eights and finished at the other in one sitting. I knew I felt guilty when I began putting the empty wrappers back in the box to suggest that there were still some chocolates remaining ...

I didn't say she had eaten too much Steve...only that she didn't want to see more history of it!

OBVIOUSLY there can never be too much chocolate from her pov...

The church is at Altea, it is well worth the climb up to it. If the weather is good you can see for miles. Also going the other way on tram line1 is Alicante and the most amazing castle on top of the rock I have ever visited. There is an elevator on the beach side of the hill if you don't fancy the climb up the road.

Thanks

We have been to Alicante and agree - lovely fort in a very nice city.

We'll walk up to the church if Mrs GMJ is up to it. She has MS so some days we are limited.

As I said in the OP, we are taking the tram...
