Alternative to Snow Chains

Saw this on a Facebook post bit expensive but looks like a good idea. Don't know why but I have got stuck in mud twice already with my current van, in all my years previously I only ever got stuck in mud once when I drove into a boggy patch on a field.

Snake oil, yes it will work, right up until you actually need it then you'll remember you'd not used it for years so left it at home in the garage,

Snow and Mud - I’ve said it before but Michelin EasyGrip are unbeatable in the price/ weight balance and trust me they work brill, on off in minutes.

I second that about Michelin Easy Grip; I recently managed to dig my van into our front lawn when retrieving it from our side parking area during the recent frost and rain, and made worse by a change in weight distribution due to reversing down a slope on the lawn. It dug in firmly on one wheel and resisted all efforts to come out for about 2 hours, even after jacking up and filling the hole in. Moral of story, get the easy grips, cheapest buy was through COSCO for Fiat Ducato Tyre size....

I don,t think all the alternatives meet the requirements when signage states snow chains required

quite correct. but for a quick "get out of jail" card for a short drive in snow e.g. getting off a winter campsite, then chain alternatives offer an easy solution. we carry both snowsocks and chains and have used both depending on conditions.
