Hi. Anyone recommend a garage to test/replace an alternator ASAP?
I haven't looked yet but I might be able to fit it.
I'm currently parked up south of Tyndrum on the A82.

I was heading for Glencoe so thinking Fort William would be a good shot but willing to head elsewhere.

I've got a voltmeter that is telling me the vehicle battery is not charging. The earth cable had broken. I've managed to fit some 35mm cable but that didn't fix it.

The rain has arrived so no more investigation tonight.

I can charge the vehicle battery from the leisure to get me somewhere.

Need to be back in Plymouth Sunday.

Logan Vehicle Services at Carluke is 81 miles away. Graham is accustomed to squeezing breakdowns in, which is why he still works crazy hours [his words last Saturday!]

Most alternators are dead easy to replace diy. Euro car parts usually have them on the shelf.
I replaced the one in my Crafter last week in a car park in Sunderland I had to remove the radiator cowling viscous fan and one pulley first but nothing particularly difficult to do.

Stilly question what base vehicle have you got

Thanks for the replies. After discussing with the management we reckon we can get home on the leisure batteries. They've fully charged the vehicle battery over night so starting won't be an issue and a 30a charger should keep things going.

Will probably replace it myself at home and I've got both GSF carparts and Euro nearby with choices of power outputs .
For info it's a 2008 Citroën Relay with the 2.2 puma engine

Thanks again for all the suggestions. Much appreciated
