I am not a Royalist or will not be swearing allegiance to anyone. But FWIW, I think King Charles will do a good job and despite his years, is a fresh face for the Monarchy.

(IMO, Queen Elisabeth should have abdicated in favour of him quite a few years ago, but that is apparently not something the British Monachy ever does. And I would say the same thing should happen sometime in the future with Charles making way for William)
 
'Swearing allegiance by his SUBJECTS' as the Guardian headline [mis]describes it; since 1st Jan 1949 we have been British Citizens, NOT subjects, because that smacks of colonialism. There were some nuances for people born in what was then the Empire, who arrived in UK as 'subjects', but I believe that these may have been updated in the 1981 Nationality Act and the 2002 [? date] legislation.

I was always a royalist but I don’t think Charles should be king, should have passed to William

Don't forget King Edward VIII and Mrs Simpson if he had not abdicated she would never have been Queen.
 
Well I am a royalist though i do agree with Charles about a slimmed down royal family as for Harry he made his bed let him lie in it as my dad would say and I think King Charles and Queen Camila will do a great job though it will be short lived because age is not on their side we have lost all our industry let’s not loose our tourism because without the royal family and the history we certainly would.
 
I'm on the fence with the Harry thing, he may have done it all wrong, but he may also have been put in an untenable position certain the press had it in for them almost from the start.

but that is a subject which will go on for a long time to come with no honest answer at the end.

No his brother would have been king. She would have been his Niece. Nothing to stop Edward VIII having children he could have found a Tia Bride 🙂😂 All sorts of strange thinks happen in that family.
 
I've not had a good abdicate for ages.
