Autoterm diesel heaters.

Try looking in China.
A bit like eco worthy batteries. Made in China. But have in stock in the uk
Items can be shipped from China and assembled in the uk to avoid tax I guess

Autoterm heaters are not Chinese and appear to be good quality and
  • ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accredited
. They are made in Latvia and have a three year warranty.

I had an Eberspacher Combitronic system that was terrible, but it was 18 years old and had passed through many owners. We decided to replace it and the quote for a wet boiler/heater was over £3k from Eber. Autoterm do a similar boiler/heater that not only uses the rest of the Combitronic system, but also fits underneath as did the Eber. And it works fantastically.

If you get one, either air or water, I would go with the comfort controller in the van. It has timers and temperature control. If you are away in the winter, you can set them to be on all the time and operated by the temperature setting. We have had ours since May this year and it has been great. They have a Facebook page and Owen (the MD) will answer any questions. They also fit them at their base near Wrexham, while you wait.
