Awning advice

I have a Hymer B644 1991 vintage with what I am guessing is the original awning. Probably due to age the spring mechanism is very weak so I’m assuming the springs need replacing. Also there is a small tear (about 300mm long) diagonally at both front corners that need repairing… assuming two patches needed. There is a local sailmaker that is willing to repair the two tears but he wants the awning canopy taking off to do it which Am guessing is a nightmare job to do yourself. Any thoughts on best way forward to sort out springs and tears without needing to remortgage. Perhaps an awning specialist. We are based near Caernarfon

Thanks for the info, will give you a them a try. I’m embarrassed to say I don’t know what make awning it is… will have closer look and see what I can determine.
