That's pretty normal refuge after a shell Island weekend, and that waste was produced by the conscientious weekend campers that could be bothered to deposit their camping gear in the skip, they usually leave it strewn across the fields and dunes.
Apparently they closed the site and sent everyone home! I have been there many times when the wind has been incredibly strong and seen loads of tents blown down or damaged ours included! But never seen it closed!
We were on the airfield next to Shell Island on Saturday at a festival, they had big marquees up for the trade stands, which were trashed in the early hours, leaving stock to the elements ad they slowly packed it away in the rain, plus loads of tents trashed, most folks just went home, we stayed cosy in our mh's, they just moved the bands into the hangar for the night. The weather has been sh*te most of the weekend, but we had a blast. Mates of ours were in a big teepee, which unzipped itself in the early hours, so they could look at the stars.
