It worth remembering eBay profit equally well from fraudulent listings as they do from legitimate listings, eBay is also by mikes the biggest worldwide operation for fencing stolen and counterfeit goods on the planet and again they make a lot of money from listing fees whilst doing so.

I doubt very much if the revenue from fraudulant vs genuine listings is 50:50 or even close to it.

There’s absolutely no business sense in them effectively policing themselves, especially as they seem pretty immune from any country specific legal accountability.

Ummm.... Credibility? now THERE is a damn good reason to police themselves so their customers trust them more. How many times to you see comments on forums like "I would never buy from eBay" due to scamming.

I haven't looked into this, but isn't there a place to report scams? Or is that just greedy investor scams or unrealistic online dating scams?

It's easy to report individual listings, but more difficult to report a seller obviously a scammer would never dream of doing multiple listing
